Based on context, I assume that it makes the location automatically align to the map grid.

DarkenedFantasies -- snap to tiles means the locations are placed like in the original editor (or x-tra). snap to grid means they act the same but with the active grid instead of terrain. no snap means you can place the locations however you want and whatever size
