[2015-12-30. : 6:30 pm]
Zoan -- err, I don't think so.
[2015-12-30. : 6:30 pm]
Zoan -- Kaias
Kaias shouted: Zoan Are you using Mint?
no
[2015-12-30. : 6:30 pm]
Kaias -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: so, where does that GetMintStateConversion function come from? I couldn't find it in the actions.php or the mint.php.
Are you using Mint?
[2015-12-30. : 6:28 pm]
Kaias -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: so, where does that GetMintStateConversion function come from? I couldn't find it in the actions.php or the mint.php.
Your fix should be fine
[2015-12-30. : 6:24 pm]
jjf28 -- ah
[2015-12-30. : 6:24 pm]
Kaias -- i.e. if 'switch math' is more efficient for low maxes, it'll use that, and then switch to 'dc math' for higher values
[2015-12-30. : 6:23 pm]
Kaias -- Many math functions are done differently depending on the provided max
[2015-12-30. : 6:23 pm]
jjf28 -- Kaias
Kaias shouted: and iirc you have to set up forces in a way we can't depend on the user doing to do ternary countoffs
mm, would require more input from the user/mint
[2015-12-30. : 6:22 pm]
jjf28 -- Kaias
Kaias shouted: Oreo doesn't use ternary countoffs because we optimize trigger lag over filesize
can be more or less; if it only runs occasionally it may be worth it to have less trigger hitting their first couple conditions (once you get in the 10s of thousands)
[2015-12-30. : 6:22 pm]
Zoan -- so, where does that GetMintStateConversion function come from? I couldn't find it in the actions.php or the mint.php.
[2015-12-30. : 6:21 pm]
jjf28 -- Kaias
Kaias shouted: jjf28 Switch math?
IIRC alotta math functions were done using switches for storing numbers/doing logic; could be wrong
[2015-12-30. : 6:21 pm]
Kaias -- I hadn't seen it
[2015-12-30. : 6:17 pm]
Zoan -- kaias did you see my post on the oero triggers thread?
[2015-12-30. : 6:09 pm]
Kaias -- and iirc you have to set up forces in a way we can't depend on the user doing to do ternary countoffs
[2015-12-30. : 6:08 pm]
Kaias -- Oreo doesn't use ternary countoffs because we optimize trigger lag over filesize
[2015-12-30. : 6:06 pm]
Kaias -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: you can also move to systems with less triggers than usually generated by oreos (e.g. DC&/ternary math rather than switch math)
Switch math?
[2015-12-30. : 6:01 pm]
JCarrill0 -- *shrug* I have yet to play the boxes...
[2015-12-30. : 6:01 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Yeah, but I was saving for the name color, so it looks liek the way I have it in all my maps.
[2015-12-30. : 6:00 pm]
Dem0n -- costs 250 minerals and you have 295
[2015-12-30. : 6:00 pm]
Dem0n -- it'll give you more options than just the like 5 default ones
[2015-12-30. : 6:00 pm]
Dem0n -- yo if you want you can buy a shoutbox color
[2015-12-30. : 5:59 pm]
JCarrill0 -- wondering*
[2015-12-30. : 5:59 pm]
JCarrill0 -- I was wodnering if anyone has actually beat the map with 6 insane AI opponents.
[2015-12-30. : 5:58 pm]
JCarrill0 -- By the way, is there any record of anyone beating Hellhole on SEN? its a blizzard made map where you and a Buddy (or solo if you dare) select the number of opponents, and the Difficulty of the AI.
[2015-12-30. : 5:42 pm]
JCarrill0 -- I think blizzard even made their own Tetris map for SC.... that was funny
[2015-12-30. : 5:41 pm]
JCarrill0 -- but then again you could make your own AI...
[2015-12-30. : 5:40 pm]
JCarrill0 -- the one for warcraft 3 was much.. MUCH better! made by somone different mind you.
[2015-12-30. : 5:40 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: JCarrill0 woah, a chess map with ai on sc? lol
yeah but see the used the custom AI scripts, it wasnty modified. it was playable on Bnet, but... the AI was stupid. in theory it worked, but come on.. the units would sometime move off the wrong peice and stuff. It was said ebfore hand it was extremly buggy, but.. it was a nice attempt!
[2015-12-30. : 5:39 pm]
Zoan -- fer sure, if I can even get past getting 1 player to work lol
[2015-12-30. : 5:38 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: yea, the amount of deathcounters required to store all of the different pieces of data is insane, like one for which attack you are doing, one for which enemy your attacking, one for your speed, etc.
I personally dislike Turn based games... I know, but still, I dislike them, but once your done, I would like to play it, I mean if your doing that much effort for a map in this game, I'll give it a try!
[2015-12-30. : 5:38 pm]
Zoan -- JCarrill0
JCarrill0 shouted: I rememebr when somone attempted an AI based Chess map for SC. it worked great for pvp, but when the ai was added... ewww
woah, a chess map with ai on sc? lol

JCarrill0 -- crazy man, cray cray!
[2015-12-30. : 5:35 pm]
Zoan -- turn based rpg lol
[2015-12-30. : 5:35 pm]
Zoan -- rpg
[2015-12-30. : 5:34 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Bound?
[2015-12-30. : 5:34 pm]
JCarrill0 -- what kind of map is it? RPG, Defense?
[2015-12-30. : 5:33 pm]
jjf28 -- JCarrill0
JCarrill0 shouted: I thought maps also had a trigger limit.
*
[2015-12-30. : 5:33 pm]
jjf28 -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: JCarrill0 its mostly just fluff anyway
~900k is the ~limit
[2015-12-30. : 5:33 pm]
JCarrill0 -- nearly 2 decades old... and it still cant test your PC limits!
[2015-12-30. : 5:32 pm]
JCarrill0 -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: JCarrill0 there is if you save game, otherwise it's pretty much just your RAM is the limit
LOL so player with 8GB ram can last longer then somone with 4GB ram? lol
[2015-12-30. : 5:32 pm]
JCarrill0 -- also.. Dem0n, I left the marine counter as is, but i fixed the SCV one, seems like a lot of work just to tell it to accuratly train 10 martines.
[2015-12-30. : 5:31 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- and trigger lag
[2015-12-30. : 5:31 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- JCarrill0
JCarrill0 shouted: I thought maps also had a trigger limit.

[2015-12-30. : 5:31 pm]
Zoan -- JCarrill0
JCarrill0 shouted: Zoan GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY? I mean.. HOLY SH!T, is that playable?
its mostly just fluff anyway
[2015-12-30. : 5:31 pm]
JCarrill0 -- I thought maps also had a trigger limit.
[2015-12-30. : 5:31 pm]
Dem0n -- 7k triggers isn't a lot. There are maps with like 50k triggers.
[2015-12-30. : 5:30 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: jjf28 yea, I just cut off the cap for all of my dc's to 500 and now I've got like 6.8k triggers
GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY? I mean.. HOLY SH!T, is that playable?
[2015-12-30. : 5:29 pm]
Zoan -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: you can also move to systems with less triggers than usually generated by oreos (e.g. DC&/ternary math rather than switch math)
yea, I just cut off the cap for all of my dc's to 500 and now I've got like 6.8k triggers
[2015-12-30. : 5:27 pm]
JCarrill0 -- say I have 5 to start then I need to make a total of 15, but if I have 4, I need a total of 14, etc etc, so i need to make a triggers for EACH marine I lost/Currently control?
[2015-12-30. : 5:27 pm]
jjf28 -- you can also move to systems with less triggers than usually generated by oreos (e.g. DC&/ternary math rather than switch math)
[2015-12-30. : 5:26 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: I'm*
I can see the SCV suggestion setting it to 6. But how do I fix it for the Marines? I start with 5, but I could loose some along the way... so.. when it clealry says Train 10, I need to make a trigger based on the previous number I had?
[2015-12-30. : 5:25 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: JCarrill0 Yeah I've rusty on mapping, so I had a feeling the method I provided was more work than needed.
well I have a question about the Fix you suggested by the way...
[2015-12-30. : 5:25 pm]
NudeRaider -- ofc
[2015-12-30. : 5:23 pm]
jjf28 -- if the triggers run once and are then discarded they shouldn't cause lag afterwards (as evidenced by the 8k trigs that initialize EUPs :) )
[2015-12-30. : 5:22 pm]
Zoan -- 12k :0
[2015-12-30. : 5:20 pm]
Dem0n -- I'm*
[2015-12-30. : 5:20 pm]
Dem0n -- JCarrill0
JCarrill0 shouted: I feel really silly, since it was an easy fix yet we made an extra trigger when all I had to do was change the leaderbaord from goal to Leaderbaord Kills (buildings), but the second oen uses the other method you suggested.
Yeah I've rusty on mapping, so I had a feeling the method I provided was more work than needed.
[2015-12-30. : 5:20 pm]
NudeRaider -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: NudeRaider D: lets hope the ungodly amount of deathcounters I've got going on mitigate this enough
I think you can have about 10k triggers whose first condition is an easy check like dcs before it starts lagging. How many do you have?
[2015-12-30. : 5:20 pm]
Dem0n -- wut da fuk are .XFF and .CNF files lmao
[2015-12-30. : 5:19 pm]
jjf28 -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Anyone know how to extract files from a PS2 iso?
if it's an .iso mount it with any virtual-CD program and explore the virtual CD drive
[2015-12-30. : 5:18 pm]
JCarrill0 -- I feel really silly, since it was an easy fix yet we made an extra trigger when all I had to do was change the leaderbaord from goal to Leaderbaord Kills (buildings), but the second oen uses the other method you suggested.

Dem0n -- Anyone know how to extract files from a PS2 iso?
[2015-12-30. : 5:17 pm]
Dem0n -- Good job.
[2015-12-30. : 5:16 pm]
JCarrill0 -- BTW - Dem0n, I fixed my map. http://www.staredit.net/topic/16930/#1 I re-uploaded it, and I also made a second one, based on the Suggestion you made.
[2015-12-30. : 5:11 pm]
JCarrill0 -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: I've played maps that are hundreds of megabytes big
Good thing you both downloaded it BEFORE you played on Bnet lol
[2015-12-30. : 5:10 pm]
Dem0n -- Because it's a 20 year old system that wasn't meant to utilize high speed fiberoptic internet.
[2015-12-30. : 5:10 pm]
JCarrill0 -- reason*
[2015-12-30. : 5:10 pm]
JCarrill0 -- lil-Inferno
lil-Inferno shouted: I don't know if there's a hard limit, but after a certain point downloads could take hours.
I know before My EOTS map was made B net friendly, the 6MB map took 15 misn tro download, and that not based on my connection, Bnet limits transfer limits for some readon
