[2016-7-19. : 3:49 am]
CecilSunkure -- god this OOP implementation is shit
[2016-7-19. : 3:39 am]

no idea i dropped out remember? also i can't Google
[2016-7-19. : 3:08 am]
jjf28 -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: I don't want to write code only for someone to say "You didn't apply this part of OOP" or "That's not OOP you forgot X"
well the problems fairly simple for OOP, not actually that many 'objects' to think about, have something like a csv token reader which parses the items between commas/new lines/the eof and returns them (as a string, char array, w/e's best for optimizing later), make a serializable class (just forces SubClasses to implement "serialize()" and "deserialize()"), put any shared helper methods in this class (any 2+ lines that would otherwise be duplicated for your objects) and you should be good
[2016-7-19. : 3:05 am]
Vrael -- I just wrote my own serializer! :D
[2016-7-19. : 3:05 am]
Roy -- Just import Protobuf and call it a day.
[2016-7-19. : 3:04 am]
Roy -- Are you writing your own serializer?
[2016-7-19. : 3:03 am]
Roy -- OOP people freak out over procedural programming because OOP was invented to replace/surpass procedural programming.
[2016-7-19. : 3:03 am]
Roy -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: I don't want to write code only for someone to say "You didn't apply this part of OOP" or "That's not OOP you forgot X"
Just don't write it procedurally and you'll be fine.
[2016-7-19. : 3:00 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I should've clarified, that's a full stack
[2016-7-19. : 2:56 am]
Moose -- Generalpie
Generalpie shouted: Sand Wraith The recursive stack, OSI stack, or progressive stack?
fat $tack$ [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]
[2016-7-19. : 2:55 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Oh, I thought we were talking about a stack.
[2016-7-19. : 2:54 am]
Generalpie -- Sand Wraith
Sand Wraith shouted: stacking their bets on the... stack... I C
The recursive stack, OSI stack, or progressive stack?
[2016-7-19. : 2:53 am]
CecilSunkure -- I don't want to write code only for someone to say "You didn't apply this part of OOP" or "That's not OOP you forgot X"
[2016-7-19. : 2:53 am]
Moose -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Sacrieur Nope.
Kids these days probably never played anything from before the mid 90s LMAO
[2016-7-19. : 2:53 am]
CecilSunkure -- Alright I need to know which OOP principles to use for this serialization problem
[2016-7-19. : 2:52 am]
CecilSunkure -- Sacrieur
Sacrieur shouted: game development is impossible without OOP
Nope.
[2016-7-19. : 2:47 am]
Moose -- Oh wait, it is, it has a dash. Didn't search with a dash.
[2016-7-19. : 2:47 am]
Dem0n -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Vrael It means his code only uses the stack. Never the heap.
yeah who needs objects
[2016-7-19. : 2:46 am]
Moose -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programming_paradigm object oriented not even listed smh
[2016-7-19. : 2:46 am]
Sand Wraith -- stacking their bets on the... stack... I C
[2016-7-19. : 2:42 am]
Moose -- This allows management to cut out the entire heap budget, saving the company millions.
[2016-7-19. : 2:42 am]
Moose -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: the hell does "full stack" mean?
It means his code only uses the stack. Never the heap.
[2016-7-19. : 2:40 am]
Vrael -- never taken the time to properly learn
[2016-7-19. : 2:40 am]
Vrael -- I suck at web service stuff
[2016-7-19. : 2:40 am]
Vrael -- got it
[2016-7-19. : 2:39 am]
Roy -- Yeah, basically.
[2016-7-19. : 2:39 am]
Vrael -- so it's a bs term meaning "I might be competent" rather than "I can only build half your product"
[2016-7-19. : 2:39 am]
Dem0n -- Roy
Roy shouted: I usually write in C#, though I've been getting into JavaScript lately as well.
I'm "learning" JS too! lel
[2016-7-19. : 2:39 am]
Roy -- It means I do everything from the frontend application to the database layer.
[2016-7-19. : 2:38 am]
Dem0n -- You do everything
[2016-7-19. : 2:38 am]
Vrael -- the hell does "full stack" mean?
[2016-7-19. : 2:38 am]
Roy -- It varies. Professionally I'm a full-stack developer for web applications.
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Vrael -- what kind of applications?
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Roy -- I usually write in C#, though I've been getting into JavaScript lately as well.
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Roy -- Just skimming the shoutbox, I honestly don't believe it's worth correcting these pages of misinformation.
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Vrael -- what do you usually write in?
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Vrael -- wtfbbqhax man?
[2016-7-19. : 2:37 am]
Roy -- Nah.
[2016-7-19. : 2:36 am]
Vrael -- Roy are you using python yet
[2016-7-19. : 2:36 am]
Roy -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Also, I don't really care what other people define OOP as. So for you, you'll have to decide who to listen to, like I already have
I mean, clearly, yeah.
[2016-7-19. : 2:35 am]
Dem0n -- Moose have you left the shoutbox in the last 5 hours LMAO
[2016-7-19. : 2:35 am]
Vrael -- that fucker, how wrong he was
[2016-7-19. : 2:35 am]
Vrael -- it's almost like someone decided that encapsulating groupings of instructions into one easy to use object in memory was a good idea
[2016-7-19. : 2:34 am]
Roy -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Designing an API is a way older concept than OOP, and is *not* a methodology, unlike OOP
OOP is a paradigm, not a methodology.
[2016-7-19. : 2:34 am]
Vrael -- yeah fucking OOP who does that shit
[2016-7-19. : 2:34 am]
Moose -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Why is Skype such garbage
Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Thanks, MS
Probably written with OOP
[2016-7-19. : 2:34 am]
Vrael -- let me read 5 pages back hold on I'll get in here too
[2016-7-19. : 2:34 am]
Dem0n -- Spent millions of dollars on it and still can't fix it >___>
