NudeRaider shouted: jjf28 the wiki article talks about different thicknesses of the SSDs. But I really haven't gotten into the topic, so your guess is as good as mine.
damn that ssd thicc O_O
[2016-12-03. : 3:24 pm]
NudeRaider -- btw. these are the conclusions I've drawn when researching 2,5" SSDs, but I don't see why stripping them of their case should change any of that.

NudeRaider -- jjf28 they are both reputable brands so their products are usually solid (minus a couple bad ones which you can ALWAYS stumble into). You could start comparing performance as it varies a lot even between models of the same brand and also bigger is usually faster. But imo all of these considerations are not worth the effort. You won't notice a difference even when working with a slow drive unless you're actually measuring it. The same goes for durability, which is mainly governed by the technology. The differences in the same technology are also not worth investigating imo. So basically you either go samsung if you wanna have the best of the best or you choose whatever you can get at a discount.
[2016-12-03. : 3:12 pm]
jjf28 -- k, thanks

[2016-12-03. : 2:43 pm]
jjf28 -- does actually, used those search terms to find a topic where Ex is fond of crucial http://www.staredit.net/topic/16820/ :)
[2016-12-03. : 2:41 pm]
Dem0n -- If it helps, Roy said Crucial is almost always reliable except for one model, and that Sandisk is pretty good too, but that was for regular SSDs so w/e
[2016-12-03. : 2:40 pm]
jjf28 -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: ya srsly I don't think anyone here is going to know which laptop ssd is best LMAO
probably not, but I'm new to this hardware and Nude and Ex tend to think of things I wouldn't
[2016-12-03. : 2:39 pm]

Moose -- Ya, might get bopped by then so who cares
[2016-12-03. : 2:21 pm]
jjf28 -- noticed the SanDisk has 5 year > Crucials 3 year warrenty; not sure I even want to think that far ahead tho :P
[2016-12-03. : 2:20 pm]
Moose -- Judging by the review summary, 1 4-egg vs 19 5-egg, the Sandisk is better. But I don't actually know anything LMAO
[2016-12-03. : 2:19 pm]
Moose -- Too bad you need download more SSD

MasterJohnny shouted: Mini Moose 2707 I don't get this part: Since they're transcendental, they can't both be the root of a polynomial with rational coefficients.
Saying "neither one can be the root of a polynomial with rational coefficients" might have been better phrasing.

IskatuMesk -- more LAM's more RAM you can download and bonus tacticool points
[2016-12-03. : 2:18 pm]
IskatuMesk -- just buy rails and put a LAM on it
[2016-12-03. : 2:02 pm]

jjf28 -- Lanthanide ... too real
[2016-12-03. : 11:44 am]
jjf28 -- I think it'd be more intuitive if I knew the proof for "a transcendental number is not a root of a non-zero polynomial equation with integer (or, equivalently, rational) coefficients."; since that seems like it wouldn't willy-nilly be part of a definition
[2016-12-03. : 11:37 am]
jjf28 -- MasterJohnny
MasterJohnny shouted: Mini Moose 2707 I don't get this part: Since they're transcendental, they can't both be the root of a polynomial with rational coefficients.
if (pi+e) and (pi*e) (the coeffecients of the expanded-form polymnomial) were both rational, then pi and e would be roots of a non-zero polynomial with all rational coefficients; pi and e are known transcendental numbers, so this cannot be the case https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcendental_number

until it gets wet, actually. :teach: but works all the same ofc ;)
[2016-12-03. : 7:36 am]
MasterJohnny -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: jjf28 Ya. Consider (x - pi) * (x - e) = 0. It has roots at e and pi. But it's also x^2 - (pi + e) * x + pi * e = 0. Since they're transcendental, they can't both be the root of a polynomial with rational coefficients. The coefficient of x^2 (1) is rational, so either or both the coefficient of x, pi + e, or the constant term pi * e, must be irrational.
I don't get this part: Since they're transcendental, they can't both be the root of a polynomial with rational coefficients.
