Hey, could someone tell me if there is any way to trigger the creation of a dark swarm anywhere on a map? If not how does preplacing them work? Do they disapear after some time?

sorry if it had already been asked but I didnt find any search button

Only Dark Swarms for player 12 will stop attacks and disappear, and units not placeable in the normal Staredit cannot be created via triggers. Dark Swarms, even if preplaced, cannot be moved.

If you would want an editor to make the AI script to have a Dark Swarm then you will need to download SCMDraft and/or StarCraft X-Tra Editor to do so.

Uh...?
There's no AI to dark swarm, you can get computers to do it, but it's unreliable.

If you wrote your own AI, would it be possible to make one that causes a computer to cast Dark Swarm? I know that's a modding thing, and you'd have to use like Iscript or something, but is it possible?

So basicly if I ask the triggers to creat a dark swarm for player 12 (or neutral) it will appear just like a normal one then disapear?

I believe if you make a sprite of the swarm it doesn't disappear.

if you make a sprite it wont do anything just drawn on screen.
If you make it normal unit it will not disappear either.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
