For the last couple of weeks, I've been listening non-stop to the Hungarian avantgarde metal band I've discovered accidentally, called Thy Catafalque. They are awesome - started out as black metal but evolved far beyond that by adding folk, electronic and neoclassical elements. The amazing thing about them is that most of their records were created by one man, Tamas Katai, who played and sang most parts, though of course there are guests - most notably, female singers, and violin / cello / clarinet players.
Found another good band, though of course "good" depends on whether you're into Gothic / Doom Metal. It's called Draconian (and hails from Sweden). FWIW they got a new album due to be released precisely one week from today. A few videos from them.
