Standalone trigger editor

so, I'm running into problems left and right with emulating scmdraft and chkedit on mac. most features work fine except for trigger editing. is there some kind of standalone editor I can use? my only other option is to make all of my triggers in staredit. thanks.

There are programs which generate triggers for you, but these eventually need to be copy-pasted into SCMDraft. So there's no getting around using SCMDraft, unless like you said you use staredit's trigger system.

Your best course of action is to figure out specifically what in SCMDraft isn't working.

To begin with:
What version of SCMDraft do you have?
How does it break while you are 'trigger editing?'
what do you mean by 'trigger editing?' Are you using the TrigEdit (The text thing where you type out each trigger), the Classic triggers, or working on Mission Briefings?

Any crash/bug/map in particular I can help with in Chkdraft? I'm no emulation expert but usually these sorts of things trace back to an overflow or not completely following the win32api documentation that I can fix.

You can try Mint/Oreo triggers (warning, replaces all triggers you currently have IIRC), TrigEditPlus, FastTrig, or ProTrig; some of these may require you to use a text trigger compiler like SCM/CHKDraft's.

scmdraft 0.8.0

in classic triggers, parts of certain conditions or actions become merged together. I can only, for instance, specify the "all" in give all units, but can't finish the trigger, or modify an extant one.

If compiling triggers through the SCMD text triggers (Triggers -> Trigger Editor) works for you then you can write triggers in a text file. Don't be fooled by the debug window that pops up when you hit "Compile" on toolbox. If you see something like "Error at line 0: started, Error at line 256: done!" then all went smooth. Also don't use SCMD text editor for text editing! Just any other editor you would prefer (like Notepad++ or I don't know what is popular on Mac). Organize your triggers and keep them in a separate text file with real comments. In that context you can also try MacroTriggers (darn, images are broken there :( ) or other trigger generation tools that will simplify text triggers editing for you.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
