I recently discovered that my car has a support for CDs with text tracks, which got me to think about replacing some of my normal ipod through the radio listening time with non-staticy CD audio.
So then, after discovering I like quite a few songs which are not made in the US, I think I'll make a CD dedicated to as many countries as I can. Here's a few songs I know of, and if you have a particularly favorite russian, indian, french, or maltan song, please mention it and I may stick it on there.
China: Meng Bu Luo Sweden: Caramelldansen Russia: Goluboy vagon (unless I can find something better, or another Cheburashka song) Japan: so many to choose from... Probably Bad Apple. Korea: Gee or Seoleim Panama: Chacarron Maccarron (though I'd like to avoid joke songs like this and tunak tunak) India: Dola Re Dola Moldova: Dragostea din Tei
That's all I can think of, so please, add more, as this isn't even half a CD.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
Artists are transliterations, song names translations. Some of my favorite artists. The first one is at last.fm because the acoustic version is very hard to find otherwise - it has a great instrumental part at the end.
REDALiCE is the most similar I can think of, of what I have in my music library at least.
Or you can go directly to the source, Alstroemeria Records. I have not tried it out so I cannot tell you if their style is consistent or if it just a bunch of stuff taped together, but I have heard it is good.
Bad Apple isn't the best song, but the fact that it was used in a 3DPV with silhouettes identifiable as touhou characters made it insanely popular. I would have picked it as well.
Diversity for cramming multiple languages into the same song:
(Russian, Latin, English) <--- Chinese subtitles too if you want to count that, but... =P
Russian singer Origa's vocals, composer = Yoko Kanno. A lot of the GitS tracks are like this.
There are definitely other songs with many more languages mixed into them, but I still prefer Inner Universe over the others, since too much variation usually just leads to chaotic interruption of flow.
