You can use outside knowledge. That's just my way of saying "HURR YOUR STATS GOT RESET TO ZERO GO REDISTRIBUTE THEM".

This sounds interesting, I kind of want to tentatively sign up but I'm not sure how complicated it'll get and how much time I'll be able to actually devote to the game.

It's basically "The Killer's game" with stat points and wider map (8 direction).

Yes...and I never played the Killer's Game because it looked too complicated, your statement is not very reassuring of my worries about the game.

The proxy I'm using doesn't support scripts so therefore I cannot open that collapse box to see how to play :(

Magic box god; Suck it Corbo

It's not complicated at all, all you do is move around and interact with your environment with actions (take this, shoot him, etc...). You can always opt out if you get too busy or something, but it really only requieres a few minutes a day.

If you browse with Firefox, I can tell you how to use Firebug and you can just Firebug any collapse boxes right open.

The Killer's game is basically:

-1 person killed the owner.
-No one knows who did it.
-Kill the killer.

I guess I'll join, but don't expect me to be too enthusiastic about it.
If I'm understanding this right, it's visually represented by both my avatar, and the 4D Rubik's Cube

:awesome:

TKG is already hard enough with one killer. With multiple killers running around, I hope I'm among them.

I have expanded the map to 150 rooms in order to accommodate everything.

Just a heads up: I will not start this game before 9/20 even if TKG ends early.

I'm making Team Raccoon. You can only join if your name is "Raccoon" on SEN.

Or.... Freedom Fighters unite!

Uh, I'm beginning to question my ability to commit to playing this game.

Sep 10 2010, 9:51 pm Aristocrat Post #95

You will be given much more information and freedom of movement here than TKG. Note that a "room" here is not necessarily an actual room, but rather just a location in space (or hyperspace). A large patch of grass might as well span the size of nine rooms, but it's still one single connected entity, and you will be given information about your surroundings for as many rooms as you can reasonably see with the unaided eye.

Idea: Multiple turns per day via. "marathon" sessions. By this I mean plow through like 3 turns in a row each day in as many hours. Players who can't make it for these sessions could be allowed preparation of their subsequent 2 turns in advance. This works good also if you need to space turn compilations out by days at a time.

Vroom! Vroom!

I agree ;D

Look at the killer game, it lasted all summer long and it's still going. This will probably last even longer.

Sep 13 2010, 9:29 pm The Starport Post #99

Also (and this could apply to TKG as well), you could allow "default" actions for each player to define and revise at any time. These are actions that kick in when they do not submit explicit turn actions for any given round. They're like auto-pilot instructions, in other words.

It started in August, so no.

If you want to play a game that only lasts a week, there's Mafia. All forum games don't need to adhere to that timeline.

The "marathon" idea might work though, up to the host of course.

I've addressed this in TKG, and think it is a bad idea. Someone who only ever submits one turn, just to define "auto-pilot actions," shouldn't be able to kill off active players. Actively playing should give you a distinct advantage over someone who hasn't logged in for a week.

Someone decides their time is better spent doing something besides forum games, and before they go absent they set "auto-pilot" instructions to try to influence the game after they've gone idle. Since they no longer have a stake in the game, their actions are generally not conducive to the enjoyment of the remaining players.

In TKG, there were 3 people who attempted to turn in actions that would "repeat" on every subsequent turn, putting them on "auto-pilot" so to speak. All 3 involved standing idly in a room and killing anyone that entered.

If you're going to "marathon" 3 turns per day, someone submitting all 3 at the same time should be alright, since they would still need to get on once a day to do so. However, not needing to be active at all defeats the entire point of even playing, and isn't fair to those who make a point of actively participating.
