I have a 3x3 mobile grid being on top of a unit every time it moves, but now the unit's movement isn't smooth like it's supposed to and it moves jaggedly.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, that is the problem with Mobile Grids. The Rule is, whenever you create or move an Air unit over a Ground unit, it slows it down temporarily.

Here are your options (as i see them), and the best one depends on what your scenario is.
1) Use the Mobile grid less, either by taking off hyper triggers or having it every X amount of trigger cycles, or you can add in a wait command.
2) Use a Coordinate Grid/Location Grid. This is very advanced, complex, and will take very extensive amounts of triggers, locations, and strings to create. However, it doesn't lag, and can detect any point on the map.
3) Use a different Grid, such as a static unit grid, or something. You can view possible grids here.

Or you can increase the size of the location that detects when the unit has moved, and that will smooth out the movement a bit more.

:payne:

We can slow down air units with down units now? I don't think so :bleh:

Oh, sorry, My bad. Creating or moving Ground units under Air units does not slow down the air unit.

Thanks for replying. I used a coordinate grid instead and it worked fine for me.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
