A while ago, I was thinking that the Shared Unit Control in WarCraft 3 would be an awesome feature in StarCraft. If your unfamiliar with Shared Unit Control, basicly it allows a player to go into the "Allies" menu and check a box allowing the other player to control all your units and building at the same time as you. This is usually used in Maze maps(equal to Bounds in StarCraft).
Im curious if anyone has any ideas on this, the only thing I could think of would be switching between the players very quickly, however, Im not sure whether or not you'd have time to input commands. And Im pretty sure once you give, any units that were training or upgrades upgrading are removed. Any thoughts?
None.
Switching between players would not work, as units are deselected, sorry, but I really see no way of doing this.
EDIT:
Actually... I just had a thought. What if you stack units, and then if one unit moves you move the other unit on top of it, that way each player owns a unit, I know it wouldn't work too well, but it's about as close as you can get other than Team Melee..
None.
Probably with single units this could be done using EUDs to detect if the player selected the unit and give it to that player. However I'm not quite sure if this could be done because I'm unfamiliar with EUDs.
Some.
If we had EUD actions, I bet you could do it.
None.
Without EUD actions it's impossible for two players to control the same unit simultaneously in a UMS map. All you could do is add a beacon or something to transfer ownership from one player to another when desired...
?????
Why can't one use EUD select detection (instead of the beacon for example) to transfer the unit from one player to another?
Some.
Unless you only had one of that unit type or a location following that one unit around you wouldn't know where the unit is to be given.
