Hey dudes,
I'm working on a game called Starcore Reactor, that uses Terrans, Orcs, and Protoss units. The game is intended for Steam (big project). Anyway, about a third of my characters (total 64) are Protoss units (Zealots/Dark Templars/Dragoons).
The issue I'm having is that the concept of Protoss has intellectual property rights by Blizzard (now Microsoft). I don't have the funds right now to spend money on big property rights. Is there any way around this issue?
-MetalGear
None.

- Name them something else and make them look slightly different
- Make it non-profit, then Blizzard will probably not care
Well, option 1 is my only possibility. I've thought about it. Sounds like good advice. However, the Protoss is such a brilliant design. It's hard to change anything without degrading it. My other concern, is that I need to use Dragoons. Not sure to what extent these units need modifying.
None.
Smealots and Fragoons twerking in, sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
For those of you interested ... I'm changing the Protoss to humanoid Dragons,
seems to be the appropriate fit.
(For some reason, I can't add photos: keeps saying "Failed to get ImageSize".)
Anyhoo ... I'm back, out of jail (please don't judge ... I got my act together!)
and intend to make a lot of money, travel the world, and build the Starcore
universe.
- - - STARCORE ALLEGIANCE - - -
Starcore Universe is a futuristic realm with various intelligent species: Orc,
Terran, Archtopian (Dragon), and Eusidian (Machine); with Ascended Leaders
in each division.
1. Orc: high HP and slow Movement with basic magic.
2. Terran: extremely powerful all-ranged Weapons but low HP.
3. Archtopian: high Armor and super-advanced technologies.
4. Eusidian: robots with high Speed and Evasion.
Encouraged by a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, players are united together
to fight in a realistic battle arena, allowing you to experiment with all different
types of characters, play-styles and technologies.
In classic game-mode, players are arranged into teams of 5 and must destroy
the enemy's Robotics Facility (produces Minions for combat). Players can win
the game faster by destroying rival Extractors (provides Vespene Gas for Minion
improvements).
Starcore Allegiance is built for its realism and serious types of characters. Play
now for free. The possibilities are endless!

None.
Sounds cool, just try not to outright include Starcraft characters and names or you will end up in prison again
Just kidding
None.
Can't help with the copyright, but very interested! Let me know if you want help with testing/theorizing anything.

Although you can help me with one thing ... do you know how to post pictures to forums without the error message I'm getting? (Refer to previous post.)
Just upload the pictures to a host like imgur and then use the BBCode img tags to link to the raw image file as opposed to whatever link they give you that links to their formatted page which displays the image on their site. You can get the raw image by right clicking on it and clicking open image in new tab. Sometimes you have to do it twice with imgur to actually get to the true image.
