Ashamed -- ng new server.. It be best. We could test the code base on a stronger machine
[2017-5-02. : 10:51 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: There's going to be a github with an export of the database structure. I'll share it once I put it together, since I'm planning to use that for the migration anyway.
you going to open source it or pay for closed repo? If you get this too me before purchasi
[2017-5-02. : 10:51 pm]
Moose -- Ashamed
Ashamed shouted: also these people don't understand webservers its apparent ha. The server is fine for a single site ha.. I have cpanel vps with 2gbs of ram that run 30 sites.
Yeah, and we're moving away from cPanel to an unmanaged VPS because I find cPanel gets in the way of things, lel. Though we never used it correctly anyway, since maplantis, v4, the wiki, etc. all run on the same cPanel account or whatever you call it LMAO

Moose -- There's going to be a github with an export of the database structure. I'll share it once I put it together, since I'm planning to use that for the migration anyway.

Ashamed -- ter hardware. I just built a 32gb 16 thread ryzen.
[2017-5-02. : 10:47 pm]
Ashamed -- You really should make a backup of the code/database and let me run it on my home server for a few tests...WE can see how much better it gets with bet
[2017-5-02. : 10:46 pm]
Ashamed -- There is no reason this site couldn't run on a shared server even lol... Its a fricken forum.. Correct optimization don't toss more specs at it ><
[2017-5-02. : 10:45 pm]
Ashamed -- also these people don't understand webservers its apparent ha. The server is fine for a single site ha.. I have cpanel vps with 2gbs of ram that run 30 sites.

Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Ashamed It's definitely load. I've watched with top and mpstat/iostat. I would be surprised if it were not shitty code and database optimization.
database optimization normally results in IO issues though >< Are you sure its not fake load because of mysql IO waits?
[2017-5-02. : 10:41 pm]
Moose -- Ashamed
Ashamed shouted: Mini Moose 2707 yeah for a web server this isn't bad.. is it IO or load that you notice on the server? Keep in mind IO can show up as load as well
It's definitely load. I've watched with top and mpstat/iostat. I would be surprised if it were not shitty code and database optimization.
[2017-5-02. : 10:37 pm]
Moose -- Pauper
Pauper shouted: Lol.. what a server! Is it hosted at someones home? Or are we renting service space? I have some old hardware laying around that would run circles around that. That I may be willing to donate......
This is from a hosting company. I'm sure half the people here have phones with better specs. You're usually paying for bandwidth, uptime, connectivity. tech/hardware support, etc. rather than specs.
[2017-5-02. : 10:34 pm]
Moose -- We're moving to these guys. The "out of stock" is w/e because DevliN "knows a guy". So I would say $40/month to scale up? LMAO
[2017-5-02. : 10:33 pm]
Pauper -- Lol.. what a server! Is it hosted at someones home? Or are we renting service space? I have some old hardware laying around that would run circles around that. That I may be willing to donate......

Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Ashamed 2 GB RAM, 67GB disk, 2x "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 0 @ 2.30GHz"
yeah for a web server this isn't bad.. is it IO or load that you notice on the server? Keep in mind IO can show up as load as well
[2017-5-02. : 10:31 pm]
Ashamed -- My ups power at my house works pretty good! I was able to remote into all my computers and shut them down ha.
[2017-5-02. : 10:31 pm]
lil-Inferno -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Ashamed 2 GB RAM, 67GB disk, 2x "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 0 @ 2.30GHz"
embarrassing LMAO
[2017-5-02. : 10:27 pm]
Moose -- Ashamed
Ashamed shouted: Mini Moose 2707 Minimoose what is the server specs right now?? I doubt this will have much effect on bad table queries.

[2017-5-02. : 10:17 pm]
outlawpoet -- "patch required" "oh turns out you don't need a patch after all" let me specify the file path jfc
[2017-5-02. : 10:15 pm]
outlawpoet -- it won't even patch the new installation at all, it insists on automatically patching one on a completely different drive than the one I just loaded it from
[2017-5-02. : 10:13 pm]
outlawpoet -- and now I need to downgrade my old version while forcing it to patch my new installation on an entirely different drive, tips?
[2017-5-02. : 10:11 pm]
outlawpoet -- does anyone know how to force it to recognize the new install?
[2017-5-02. : 10:10 pm]
Ashamed -- erg power outage at my house.... Now
[2017-5-02. : 10:09 pm]
outlawpoet -- I have a weird problem, blizzard's patch patches my old version of starcraft and I don't want it to do that
[2017-5-02. : 10:09 pm]
Ashamed -- Suicidal Insanity
Suicidal Insanity shouted: My guess is that the SQL structure / queries / PHP just needs some optimization.
I agree suicidal.. Throwing more specs at it may make it faster... but it will be a matter of time before its back with new specs, etc.
[2017-5-02. : 10:08 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: We need to go through proper channels to get unflagged, but compared to other work that needs to be done it's not a top priority.
I quoted wrong one >< on that second shout ha
[2017-5-02. : 10:08 pm]
Ashamed -- I have said a gillion times I can help get this site back in working order but I need access into shit and or you can even just copy the database/web files and give me them I dont care.
[2017-5-02. : 10:08 pm]
Suicidal Insanity -- My guess is that the SQL structure / queries / PHP just needs some optimization.
[2017-5-02. : 10:07 pm]
Suicidal Insanity -- @Pauper: Easier way to configure the MPQs is just set a custom starcraft path
[2017-5-02. : 10:07 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: MasterJohnny Yeah, turns out when you have a lot of obscure executables that sometimes trigger false positives in malware scanners, you get flagged.
also just make the site https.. This will fix this Moose.
[2017-5-02. : 10:05 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: He's been popping in and out. SEN is in the process of switching to a new server soon. I don't have any insight into SEN's finances so I don't know how the money donated keeps this place running versus his pockets or if it's enough to scale up the VPS resources.
Minimoose what is the server specs right now?? I doubt this will have much effect on bad table queries.
[2017-5-02. : 10:03 pm]
Pauper -- I'd also like to know :)
[2017-5-02. : 9:54 pm]
Suicidal Insanity -- Any idea how much it needs? Stormcoast runs off a 7$ / month plan and has had quite large traffic spikes and coped
[2017-5-02. : 9:51 pm]
Voyager7456 -- Mini Moose 2707

I'd be legitimately interested in finding out how much it would cost to upgrade SEN's resources
[2017-5-02. : 9:51 pm]
Pauper -- be in the starcraft folder, select them and add them to the list.
[2017-5-02. : 9:51 pm]
Pauper -- be in there. Add them to the list.
[2017-5-02. : 9:50 pm]

[2017-5-02. : 9:43 pm]
MasterJohnny -- yes
[2017-5-02. : 9:43 pm]
Dem0n -- Need a disclaimer at the top of the dldb saying that the warning can be ignored
[2017-5-02. : 9:42 pm]
Dem0n -- How many times are we gonna get asked that? Lmao
[2017-5-02. : 9:42 pm]
MasterJohnny -- starforge is like incompatiable with win10?
[2017-5-02. : 9:40 pm]
Moose -- MasterJohnny
MasterJohnny shouted: im downloading starforge from sen and firefox thinks it might be harmful software?
Yeah, turns out when you have a lot of obscure executables that sometimes trigger false positives in malware scanners, you get flagged.
[2017-5-02. : 9:38 pm]
Pauper -- Thanks Mini, I sent him a message through PayPal.

[2017-5-02. : 9:30 pm]
Pauper -- Damnit... so does he ever check this thing anymore? If I send him a message will he reply? I don't want to do a dispute unless I have too........... asdfasdgasdgasdg
[2017-5-02. : 9:29 pm]
Voyager7456 -- Pauper
Pauper shouted: Well shit, I guess I will talk to paypal and get a refund...........

[2017-5-02. : 9:28 pm]
Pauper -- Well shit, I guess I will talk to paypal and get a refund...........
[2017-5-02. : 9:27 pm]
Pauper -- Ahh shoot, really? So he is just inactive and doesn't help speed up the site?
[2017-5-02. : 9:25 pm]
Dem0n -- That money just goes to Devlin and he's not helping to fix the site
[2017-5-02. : 9:25 pm]
Dem0n -- Pauper
Pauper shouted: Woah.. R2B.. Jesus.. haven't seen that name in awhile. It happens all the time, the site is super slow right now. More donations = faster site! :D
donating won't do shit LMAO
[2017-5-02. : 9:22 pm]
Suicidal Insanity -- 7 people online, how bad can that hit the database?
[2017-5-02. : 9:17 pm]
Ashamed -- Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: quick, everyone stop shouting!
I don't neccarily even think its from shouting - Its from everyone querying this table frequently.
[2017-5-02. : 9:04 pm]

nah they need to fix the database ha. Its because the traffic of the site has increased much.. This shoutbox i think is the big reasons we get delays

Voyager7456 -- Red2Blue
Red2Blue shouted: Ahh thanks, I get the spinny SEN thing really often.
Sadly that is not unusual these days.
[2017-5-02. : 8:26 pm]
Red2Blue -- Ahh thanks, I get the spinny SEN thing really often.
[2017-5-02. : 8:22 pm]
Zoan -- not unusually no
[2017-5-02. : 8:18 pm]
Red2Blue -- Is Staredit.net unusually slow for you?
[2017-5-02. : 8:17 pm]
TF- -- ok, thanks, I kept looking through docs and readmes but somehow didn't find the install instructions
[2017-5-02. : 8:03 pm]
poiuy_qwert -- The install instructions have all that info, but Python 2, and specifically 2.7 was used to develop it so will probably work best. you also need a version of PIL (should have info in the install instructions)
[2017-5-02. : 7:57 pm]
TF- -- well, for starters just tell me if i need to use python 2 or 3, and if there's any other caveats like that
[2017-5-02. : 7:50 pm]
poiuy_qwert -- TF-
TF- shouted: poiuy_qwert i haven't been able to get anything to run though even with python installed, nothing would start
Did you check the source install instructions in the docs? I'm not 100% sure if those are correct anymore but you can check that, and if you still need help I can help if you create a thread or post here: http://www.staredit.net/topic/16686/
[2017-5-02. : 7:40 pm]
TF- -- poiuy_qwert
