(Not to mention the redirection away from technical work that I actually like doing.) After our tech manager transferred to programming I brought in one of my old managers to fill that role since I didn't want to take it. 20% more pay, 200% increase in bullshit.  Now as the dept grows I'll be his asst manager, and get 50% more bullshit for 20% more pay which is the best you can hope for most times.
