[2018-1-11. : 5:57 pm] MTiger156 -- After a long silence, I'm back with a new map http://www.staredit.net/topic/17530/[2018-1-11. : 3:37 pm] jjf28 -- navigating through a 3d maze where you're constantly changing the water level?[2018-1-11. : 3:34 pm] lil-Inferno -- jjf28jjf28 shouted: lil-Inferno it doesn't have all that much replay value cause you've already know the puzzles and all and the combat is fairly bland once you know what's going on - finding the solutions is the fun in Zelda-style games What puzzles? Shooting an arrow into some eye thing isn't a puzzle.[2018-1-11. : 3:33 pm] jjf28 -- despite adoring portal 1 I can't really enjoy it that much knowing what I need to do[2018-1-11. : 3:32 pm] jjf28 -- lil-Infernolil-Inferno shouted: No. Judging by that list Ocarina of Time is the best game ever made. Have you ever played it in your adulthood? It's not fun at all. it doesn't have all that much replay value cause you've already know the puzzles and all and the combat is fairly bland once you know what's going on - finding the solutions is the fun in Zelda-style games[2018-1-11. : 3:26 pm] NudeRaider -- lil-Infernolil-Inferno shouted: No. Judging by that list Ocarina of Time is the best game ever made. Have you ever played it in your adulthood? It's not fun at all. I'm afraid I have to admit that I haven't played any Zelda games. I found lots of other games way up that list that I knew though.[2018-1-11. : 3:22 pm] NudeRaider -- lil-Infernolil-Inferno shouted: I haven't played Breath of the Wild, but you'd be hard-pressed to convince anyone it's only better graphically than games made 20 years prior well I can agree that the amount of features and "todos" (aka scale) are increasing for games that make it a selling point. It's slow but it does. The question is if these features make these games better? I'd argue more often than not, they don't. AC series comes to mind. Only a few exceptions manage to put out games where the extra features are actually a fun part of game play and don't end up being a chore half-way in. On the other hand, games that have few features, but really good core gameplay can be incredibly fun, even after hundreds of hours. Mario Kart comes to mind.[2018-1-11. : 3:10 pm] lil-Inferno -- I haven't played Breath of the Wild, but you'd be hard-pressed to convince anyone it's only better graphically than games made 20 years prior[2018-1-11. : 3:07 pm] lil-Inferno -- No. Judging by that list Ocarina of Time is the best game ever made. If people were only driven by passion we'd have a lot less games, but the titles would generally be better, and certainly more honest.[2018-1-11. : 6:44 am] Wing Zero -- I feel like your complaint about lacking heart is caused by the people that pay for the game development forcing cookie cutter builds that are proven to sell instead of allowing risks with something more creative[2018-1-11. : 6:38 am] Wing Zero -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: Dem0n not really. Many many games today are lacking heart and thought. They are just thrown together with tools that make them fancy. Case in point: At Christmas Steam sale I bought the shadowrun series (pen and paper adaption rp)for 10€ and those games have simple isometric prerendered environment with low res 3d characters. There's no flashy cutscenes and the dialog isn't even voiced, so you have to read it all. But it's well narrated, and creates a nice mood with the graphics. Each character feels actually like they have personality. You even take guys with you on missions that are worse than others, just because you like them. Basically everything is playing in your mind and the game is just the template. That's really engaging and I ended up playing that more than all the other fancy titles I can fully enjoy now after I upgreded my CPU. He did say practically[2018-1-11. : 6:09 am] NudeRaider -- also fuck skins and micro transactions But I understand why they do it. And as long as I can get (most of) them with in-game currency it's also fine with me.[2018-1-11. : 6:07 am] NudeRaider -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: Games cost $60 ten years ago yet have improved exponentially in practically every aspect not really.
