[2014-8-09. : 5:38 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I used to throw wood chips at them just to make them go away and shut the hell up [2014-8-09. : 5:37 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- wtf, this lists magpies as songbird. Incessant screeching is no song D: [2014-8-09. : 5:31 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- My mom's cat used to eat baby magpies .. the adults would be too big to catch. [2014-8-09. : 5:30 am] Lanthanide -- haast's eagles would be able to carry off children if they were still around [2014-8-09. : 5:30 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Wikipedia tells me magpies are crows, but an Australian magpie is not a crow [2014-8-09. : 5:29 am] Lanthanide -- he's 14 weeks old so would be too big for a magpie (about the same size, or maybe slightly larger) [2014-8-09. : 5:28 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Well, even like a magpie or maybe a crow could carry off a kitten. [2014-8-09. : 5:24 am] Lanthanide -- these use to exist though, and eat moas (like big emus): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haast's_eagle [2014-8-09. : 4:56 am] Moose -- Ugh, I have no idea what I did with the screws for the sides of my case. The smart thing to do would've been to put them back in without attaching the sides, but I wasn't smart when I took it apart. >_< [2014-8-09. : 4:39 am] Heinermann -- I'd rather be able to customize my laptop's hardware. I was able to do it through Dell with this one, and it's about 3 years old. I'm thinking of getting my next one once I graduate. [2014-8-09. : 4:25 am] Dem0n -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231727 that is very nice though [2014-8-09. : 4:18 am] ShadowFlare -- Chromebooks do have some local storage, though I don't know how much, and what you can store is limited to the Chrome apps that have the capability to be used offline. [2014-8-09. : 4:17 am] Fire_Kame -- for someone who knows exactly what they want did you even look for it? [2014-8-09. : 4:17 am] Fire_Kame -- 14" Chromebook: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-14-chromebook-intel-celeron-2gb-memory-16gb-solid-state-drive-snow-white/2978481.p;jsessionid=6E758F02848C32F960A405991E6A7B57.bbolsp-app02-120?id=1219085230408&skuId=2978481&st=categoryid$pcmcat244900050010&cp=1&lp=3 [2014-8-09. : 4:17 am] Fire_Kame -- I'd just hate to be at the mercy of an internet connection to access or save my notes. [2014-8-09. : 4:16 am] Fire_Kame -- Eh if you're alright with that go for it. It'll most likely be the only thing in your price range [2014-8-09. : 4:15 am] Moose -- Who needs storage when there's google drive? Tell google everything you know. Google will remember it for you wholesale. [2014-8-09. : 4:14 am] Moose -- http://deals.ebay.com/tech-deals#Laptops-Netbooks You could scrape the bottom end of this, too. Maybe you'll find something. [2014-8-09. : 4:14 am] Fire_Kame -- You also have to think about how you take notes - I liked using one note because tabbing was fluid for outlines - if you're going to use word and are used to using tabbing for paragraphs I think that's still an issue with google docs where it'll take you out of the document. [2014-8-09. : 4:14 am] Fire_Kame -- you also need a stable internet connection for that...every campus I had had random downtime. [2014-8-09. : 4:13 am] Dem0n -- Chromebooks seem pretty weird, and they're all like 11", whereas I'd want something around 14" [2014-8-09. : 4:12 am] Moose -- Craigslist an el cheapo craptop, you can do glorified word processing for less! [2014-8-09. : 4:11 am] Fire_Kame -- if all you need is a glorified word processor for class there's really no reason to spend more than $300. [2014-8-09. : 4:11 am] Moose -- Amusing, even they're like eh, Linux is fast, yeah okay I know we made android, whatever, fuck it, put Linux on it [2014-8-09. : 4:02 am] Dem0n -- I need an el cheapo craptop to take to class and shit if I end up buying a desktop [2014-8-09. : 3:53 am] Dem0n -- That computer is the worst piece of shit I've ever used. I had to deal with it for 6 years until we got a new computer ;_; [2014-8-09. : 3:52 am] Moose -- Pretty much turn off all the pretty looking things, all of the windows services you don't need, go through every startup item, if you want to be intense you can even optimize the BIOS, disable inputs for unused components and such [2014-8-09. : 3:43 am] Dem0n -- Moose, my dad has a shitty Dell from '05 and even if I reformat it turns into a slow piece of fucking shit in like 2 weeks. How do I make it stay not shitty? |
