[2014-12-05. : 4:26 am]
Dem0n -- ;_;
[2014-12-05. : 4:25 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I've never read a book
[2014-12-05. : 4:25 am]
Moose -- If you only look stuff up, you wouldn't know enough about what can help you so you wouldn't be able to ask the right questions
[2014-12-05. : 4:24 am]
Moose -- Or, rather, get a good book and/or site that will help you learn
[2014-12-05. : 4:24 am]
Dem0n -- I once made the most retarded game in ActionScript, but ActionScript is fucking stupid.
[2014-12-05. : 4:24 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ya, but 10 minutes over like 10 years .. .that adds up. xD
[2014-12-05. : 4:24 am]
MasterJohnny -- its hard to self learn
[2014-12-05. : 4:23 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Nah, just start programming and look up things as you go.
That's what I've done. :P
[2014-12-05. : 4:23 am]
Dem0n -- I tried that. I got distracted after 10 minutes and went to something else.
[2014-12-05. : 4:23 am]
Moose -- Nah, just start programming and look up things as you go.
[2014-12-05. : 4:23 am]
MasterJohnny -- i should go back to CC and take more CS classes...
[2014-12-05. : 4:22 am]
Dem0n -- It's hard when you don't know it :massimo:
[2014-12-05. : 4:20 am]
Moose -- OOP is OOEZ
[2014-12-05. : 4:17 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- OOP is, like, the hardest
[2014-12-05. : 4:10 am]
lil-Inferno -- Stop saying it like it's hard.
[2014-12-05. : 4:09 am]
lil-Inferno -- OOP isn't hard you fucking retard.
[2014-12-05. : 4:09 am]
Dem0n -- C# would be totes easy if I knew OOP. But I'm a retard.
[2014-12-05. : 3:57 am]
MasterJohnny -- C# isnt that hard to learn since theres an IDE right away
[2014-12-05. : 3:53 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Just don't do these things Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Or ... just this is a big list actually
[2014-12-05. : 3:53 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- well C is like C++, but without the ++
[2014-12-05. : 3:53 am]
Moose -- I'd be more helpful if I actually knew C or C#, lulz
[2014-12-05. : 3:49 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- that's probably cheating though
[2014-12-05. : 3:48 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- it would probably be possible with lots of preprocessors
[2014-12-05. : 3:47 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I want a source code that is compatable C, C++, and C#. That'd be fun.
[2014-12-05. : 3:47 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I saw the wikipedia page, that's how I figured out the template thing
[2014-12-05. : 3:46 am]
Moose -- There's a bunch on the wikipedia page
[2014-12-05. : 3:46 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- and when I tried it I didn't read the error, I just saw an error and immediately deleted the files
[2014-12-05. : 3:46 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I thought you'd found a thing that doesn't work from one to the other, I didn't realize it was because of the name. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:45 am]
Moose -- Yeah. And new and class.
[2014-12-05. : 3:44 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Oh, that only doesn't work because of the word template.
[2014-12-05. : 3:42 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Valid C that won't compile in C++!
neat.
[2014-12-05. : 3:41 am]
Moose -- But really there's other less pathological stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compatibility_of_C_and_C%2B%2B
[2014-12-05. : 3:41 am]
Moose -- Valid C that won't compile in C++!
[2014-12-05. : 3:41 am]
Jack -- MA is always on bnet
[2014-12-05. : 3:41 am]
Moose -- struct template { int new; struct template* class; };
[2014-12-05. : 3:41 am]
Moose -- AHA, now I have a pathological example!
[2014-12-05. : 3:37 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Before I figured out how to put a pointer to a struct inside of itself I just used a void pointer and would just cast it every time. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:36 am]
Moose -- Wait, I'm a filthy liar
[2014-12-05. : 3:36 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- C has void pointers, I use them all the time
[2014-12-05. : 3:35 am]
Moose -- C++ does
[2014-12-05. : 3:35 am]
Moose -- C doesn't have void pointers
[2014-12-05. : 3:35 am]
jjf28 -- don't you dare remember
[2014-12-05. : 3:34 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I remember something about like void*s, but I don't really remember other than I got an error and then I fixed it and there was no issue.
[2014-12-05. : 3:33 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- but the only problem I remember compiling C code as C++ was with casting and pointers and stuff, but as I said earlier doing it the more correct way is what makes it valid in C++. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:33 am]
Moose -- Not saying anything about capabilities
[2014-12-05. : 3:33 am]
Moose -- I'm just saying there exists C code that isn't valid C++ code
[2014-12-05. : 3:32 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- We already know C++ can do a bunch of stuff that C can't. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:31 am]
Moose -- lel whoops
[2014-12-05. : 3:31 am]
Dem0n -- Yeah, Moose, stop being a dummy
[2014-12-05. : 3:30 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Or ... just this is a big list actually
Looking at only one item, that list appears to be things you can do in c++ that you can't do in C and not the other way around
[2014-12-05. : 3:29 am]
Dem0n -- That's what I do normally
[2014-12-05. : 3:29 am]
Dem0n -- foo = (Foo *) malloc(sizeof(*foo));
[2014-12-05. : 3:29 am]
Dem0n -- I already cast it in C
[2014-12-05. : 3:29 am]
Moose -- Or ... just this is a big list actually
[2014-12-05. : 3:29 am]
jjf28 -- that doesn't work in C, there is no type Foo :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:28 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- C# is just Microsoft's java
[2014-12-05. : 3:28 am]
Moose -- Works in C, needs a cast in C++.
[2014-12-05. : 3:28 am]
Moose -- Foo *foo; foo = malloc(sizeof(*foo));
[2014-12-05. : 3:28 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I've encountered them, but that's because of my bad practices and design. Doing it correctly made it compatible. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:27 am]
Dem0n -- C# is cool. I should learn the syntax. I "know" some Java (was taught it, but forgot like all of it), and C# is like the same thing
[2014-12-05. : 3:27 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: It's not even compatible with C, though, there's C code that won't work as C++
Only pretty specific things don't work in C++ that do work in C.
[2014-12-05. : 3:27 am]
jjf28 -- lies and slander
[2014-12-05. : 3:27 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- There's also C# which not very little like C. But I can see how they got confused, what with their throwing musical terms in to programming. :P
[2014-12-05. : 3:27 am]
jjf28 -- lies
[2014-12-05. : 3:26 am]
Moose -- It's not even compatible with C, though, there's C code that won't work as C++
[2014-12-05. : 3:26 am]
jjf28 -- who would say that?
[2014-12-05. : 3:26 am]
Moose -- C with classes, yo
[2014-12-05. : 3:26 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- It's like C, but one higher. You might say it's C++.
[2014-12-05. : 3:25 am]
jjf28 -- few more concepts to learn, if you know ur C you shouldn't have trouble coding things but getting used to classes takes some doing
[2014-12-05. : 3:25 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- C++ is just C, but more. :P
