[2019-3-10. : 10:53 pm] NudeRaider -- UltravioletUltraviolet shouted: NudeRaider Why do you have to be so contrary? alright, lets say they're both fantastic mapping tools, okay? The best! I've seen it myself.![]() [2019-3-10. : 10:51 pm] NudeRaider -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: Roy so 2 options: a) pick one and slam it into the wiki (but who's gonna decide which one?) b) combine them into a new wiki post. The problem with a) is that at the moment we're not sure what to make of either explanations in terms of how they don't reflect what we're seing in the test map, so it's kinda hard to pick the right one. Problem with b) is kinda the same. If you wanna pick the best parts of each source, you'd have to fully understand the problem to do it correctly. Although we could just slam them both into the wiki and put a not below that explains the inconsistencies. *a note[2019-3-10. : 10:48 pm] NudeRaider -- RoyRoy shouted: Anyway, my general point was that it'd be nice if the link being shared was a central resource, instead of each of you feeling some obligation to post one whenever the other is referenced. That's all I meant by it. so 2 options: a) pick one and slam it into the wiki (but who's gonna decide which one?) b) combine them into a new wiki post. But I think Heinermanns post is entirely unsuited to school someone on the problem. I am convinced the other post does a better job of explaining the problem and so I felt this silly act was necessary to actually help sethmachine. not to mention, my link was just an optional source. I explained what he had to do within my post.[2019-3-10. : 10:22 pm] NudeRaider -- RoyRoy shouted: Anyway, my general point was that it'd be nice if the link being shared was a central resource, instead of each of you feeling some obligation to post one whenever the other is referenced. When glass breaks it's always obvious. Does that mean glass is the better mapping tool? Why do you have to be so contrary? ![]() [2019-3-10. : 10:17 pm] Ultraviolet -- RoyRoy shouted: Instead of trying to figure out which old post tucked away in different threads contains the better explanation on the Bring/Command quirks, that time is probably better invested into making the best reference for it on the wiki. I would be so happy if the wiki was still being updated... Of course, I say this, and am myself completely unwilling to contribute ![]() [2019-3-10. : 9:03 pm] Roy -- Anyway, my general point was that it'd be nice if the link being shared was a central resource, instead of each of you feeling some obligation to post one whenever the other is referenced. So if you have it all figured out and would be able to explain it, please do so. Kudos to you if you make the wiki post as well, but I might just do it myself when we actually have full understanding. I'm more referencing the fact that you both have gone into multiple topics to share your personal favorite posts on the topic. Taking a discussion beyond the original topic's inquiry to the point of being off-topic to discuss undocumented anomalies is not something I was particularly criticizing.[2019-3-10. : 7:40 pm] jjf28 -- so for read only mode on protected maps or anything like that there's some extra work[2019-3-10. : 7:36 pm] NudeRaider -- RoyRoy shouted: Instead of trying to figure out which old post tucked away in different threads contains the better explanation on the Bring/Command quirks, that time is probably better invested into making the best reference for it on the wiki. not sure that exactly applies to the situation I'm discussing with Lanth currently, but the main problem we're having atm is that neither explanation explains what's going on in my test map. When glass breaks it's always obvious. Does that mean glass is the better mapping tool?[2019-3-09. : 9:01 pm] Ultraviolet -- The thing that breaks it isn't always obvious. I think one time after I deleted 20 locations or so and tried to inject my map with EUD Editor 2 it wouldn't work. I have no idea why, but that's what happened ![]() [2019-3-09. : 7:56 pm] Ultraviolet -- I get scared seeing you have been experiencing this issue, as I am currently using CUnitData triggers in my current project. Occasionally I make a mistake and break the map, but I usually am able to fix it by restoring the previous version and rebuilding from there. Not the most fun thing to do, but in my case, I'm mostly editing triggers, so I just copy and paste the triggers from trigedit of the current version into the previous version and skip ahead a version past the current version and save again. This has kept my project alive thusfar[2019-3-09. : 1:26 am] MTiger156 -- http://www.staredit.net/topic/17572/2/#48 I still don't have a solution to why CUnitData triggers are corrupting files. I can't do a single dam thing with them at the moment.[2019-3-08. : 9:08 am] Suicidal Insanity -- So the split in scmdraft is the map object + editable map object, which are UI independent and in theory could be exported to a COM DLL at some point, and the UI which accesses them[2019-3-08. : 8:54 am] Suicidal Insanity -- All the internal events are pseudo COM event dispatchers in order to make it really easy to convert them to things that can be scripted externally[2019-3-08. : 12:19 am] jjf28 -- like I'm assuming FireWeRequireMoreLocations() just returns success or an error code based on whether the user is fine upgrading to an expansion map, should be a boolean or enum or void and throw exceptions on failure[2019-3-08. : 12:08 am] jjf28 -- it's when windows data types get used for logic that shouldn't be coupled to windows that I get ![]() [2019-3-08. : 12:08 am] jjf28 -- honestly windows data types are fine for windows API/DLL based interfaces (you should ofc consider using a localhost:portnum to communicate instead)[2019-3-07. : 10:23 pm] Suicidal Insanity -- JJ: If you don't like HRESULTS, what do you think of the new version of the super secret trigger plugin data access function? You should have started investing $1k/yr 10 years ago. so unless you know a method of time travel I'm unaware of what you're saying is invest whatever you can now, and then continue to add smaller sums.[2019-3-05. : 1:13 pm] Roy -- That's going a bit back to crystal ball territory, but yeah, there was a lot of money to be made if you knew where to look over the past few years.[2019-3-05. : 8:08 am] Suicidal Insanity -- RoyRoy shouted: Your problem is having $10k immediately. Naw, he should have bought a house 10 years ago ![]() [2019-3-05. : 5:17 am] Ultraviolet -- zsnakezzzsnakezz shouted: i didn't know starcraft one cast powers were that powerful, that frequent, and that op, it won't be perfect but it will definitely be better They're particularly OP because the unit HP values in your map are small. With higher HP values, those spells wouldn't be so difficult to deal with[2019-3-05. : 4:46 am] Roy -- Your problem is having $10k immediately. You should have started investing $1k/yr 10 years ago.[2019-3-05. : 1:02 am] NudeRaider -- RoyRoy shouted: And if you had invested continuously instead of in one lump sum, you'd be more ahead than waiting to time the market most of the time. Search around for any expert advice on timing the market: the benefit is often miniscule, and withholding investable funds often means if you don't have a crystal ball, you're leaving money on the table. but won't I have lower lower dividends then? say I have 10k to spendfor a 10 year plan. I could invest all 10k at once, and for 10 years get like 10% return, = 1.1 ^ 10 = 2.5 time the initial investment. But when I put in 1k each year, I'll have fewer: lets say one stock has the value of 100 initially. You invest 1000 first year, so you have 10. Next year the value is 110, so you only get 9.09, the 3rd year 121 -> you get 8.2 etc. while with initally 10k you get 10x10 = 100[2019-3-05. : 1:01 am] zsnakezz -- i didn't know starcraft one cast powers were that powerful, that frequent, and that op, it won't be perfect but it will definitely be better[2019-3-05. : 1:00 am] zsnakezz -- im gonna turn that randomness into straight forward things people can fux with[2019-3-05. : 1:00 am] zsnakezz -- you are entering a space you may or may not die depending on random circumstance[2019-3-05. : 12:58 am] zsnakezz -- those two things in my map definitely need to be closer and more predictable[2019-3-05. : 12:58 am] zsnakezz -- a part of that includes what the player is told, and how many times they are randomly fucked over[2019-3-05. : 12:57 am] zsnakezz -- im just trying to make that aspect a little less shitty and a little less random to kill those bosses or complete the challenges[2019-3-05. : 12:55 am] zsnakezz -- you could be the best, and still die an unfair death with what is there[2019-3-05. : 12:54 am] zsnakezz -- UltravioletUltraviolet shouted: zsnakezz Did you ever fix the bugs I brought up in your thread? i fixed most of the bugs already, you can play the undead if you know what's going on, im just trying to make victory more achievable.Basically make harder challenges more balanced in the end game |
