[2016-7-08. : 10:27 am]
LoveLess -- or the murica tour
[2016-7-08. : 10:27 am]
LoveLess -- United States of America tour
[2016-7-08. : 10:27 am]
Oh_Man -- is that what you're saying
[2016-7-08. : 10:27 am]
Oh_Man -- So you take your privately owned weapons out to the mountains and shoot up some trees
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
LoveLess -- Look, do you want the U
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
LoveLess -- Yeah. And mountains.
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
Oh_Man -- like no one being allowed downrange when you're shooting
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
Oh_Man -- Don't you guys have like... safety procedures
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
LoveLess -- Oh_Man
Oh_Man shouted: I would like to go on holiday to Murica one day and hit the range
Range? Boi, we got mountains for that.
[2016-7-08. : 10:26 am]
Oh_Man -- fire some of their ridiculously OP weapons
[2016-7-08. : 10:25 am]
Oh_Man -- I would like to go on holiday to Murica one day and hit the range
[2016-7-08. : 10:25 am]
LoveLess -- Hey man, I never said this country was great.
[2016-7-08. : 10:25 am]
Lanthanide -- some freedom you guys have got
[2016-7-08. : 10:25 am]
Oh_Man -- Lanthanide
Lanthanide shouted: I think there are recreational places where you can shoot powerful guns in NZ, actually
Well, not in AUS. Only time I got to fire fully automatic weapons was when I visited the RAAF base at Amberley. I got to fire empty Steyrs on an electronic range, and fire blanks from some sort of machine gun mounted on a bipod.
[2016-7-08. : 10:25 am]
Lanthanide -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: Or should we go with, let's say a legal way, and protest with signs in areas that we are allowed to on dates we are given for the cause?
oh yeah, "freedom of speech zones" and scheduled protests
[2016-7-08. : 10:24 am]
Lanthanide -- Lanthanide
Lanthanide shouted: I think there are recreational places where you can shoot powerful guns in NZ, actually
doing some googling, there are not. But they might exist in Australia; they certainly do in the US
[2016-7-08. : 10:24 am]
Moose -- Sand Wraith
Sand Wraith shouted: good night
good night
[2016-7-08. : 10:24 am]
LoveLess -- Or should we go with, let's say a legal way, and protest with signs in areas that we are allowed to on dates we are given for the cause?
[2016-7-08. : 10:24 am]
Oh_Man -- Sand Wraith
Sand Wraith shouted: good night
night
[2016-7-08. : 10:23 am]
LoveLess -- What is your definition of a riot? Burning down pubs and breaking into store fronts?
[2016-7-08. : 10:23 am]
Lanthanide -- riots? by gun owners in favour of gun control?
[2016-7-08. : 10:23 am]
Sand Wraith -- good night
[2016-7-08. : 10:22 am]
Lanthanide -- I think there are recreational places where you can shoot powerful guns in NZ, actually
[2016-7-08. : 10:22 am]
LoveLess -- Lanthanide
Lanthanide shouted: lets see some rioting in the streets in favour of gun control, but all those gun owners, eh?
There have been. Signs don't talk like money does.
[2016-7-08. : 10:22 am]
Lanthanide -- lets see some rioting in the streets in favour of gun control, but all those gun owners, eh?
[2016-7-08. : 10:22 am]
Oh_Man -- I do think people should be able to go to shooting ranges and shoot government owned weapons as a recreational sport though
[2016-7-08. : 10:22 am]
Lanthanide -- right, so if gun owners are against the loopholes, they should rally against the NRA and the other lobbyists
[2016-7-08. : 10:21 am]
Oh_Man -- These arguments on serious discussion have convinced me. I am taking an anti-gun stance from here on out
[2016-7-08. : 10:21 am]
LoveLess -- Sand Wraith
Sand Wraith shouted: LoveLess there's apparently a lot of loopholes though, like with private transactions and sales at gun shows. To my understanding.
There are, which is a matter that a lot of gun owners are against. That's just lobbying at work.
[2016-7-08. : 10:20 am]
Sand Wraith -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: We already require you to not have a felony, any violent offences, restraining orders, etc etc. There is already a whole lot to prevent you from just getting a gun.
there's apparently a lot of loopholes though, like with private transactions and sales at gun shows. To my understanding.
[2016-7-08. : 10:19 am]
Lanthanide -- a license lasts for 10 years, so it's $12 a year
[2016-7-08. : 10:19 am]
Lanthanide -- my point is anyone who has trouble affording a license, is going to have trouble affording a gun in the first place
[2016-7-08. : 10:18 am]
LoveLess -- Depends on the brand.
[2016-7-08. : 10:18 am]
Lanthanide -- how much does the gun cost, and ammo?
[2016-7-08. : 10:18 am]
Lanthanide -- hardly going to break the bank
[2016-7-08. : 10:18 am]
Lanthanide -- it costs $126.50 for a license in NZ
[2016-7-08. : 10:17 am]
LoveLess -- Like restricting it to someone who can afford a "recreational license" ?
[2016-7-08. : 10:17 am]
Lanthanide -- yeah, other countries don't have it because they have a much more comprehensive set of other measures
[2016-7-08. : 10:17 am]
LoveLess -- We already require you to not have a felony, any violent offences, restraining orders, etc etc. There is already a whole lot to prevent you from just getting a gun.
[2016-7-08. : 10:16 am]
LoveLess -- We already have things like waiting periods where you do not even get the weapon you buy for up to 20 days in some cases, something which many other countries don't.
[2016-7-08. : 10:15 am]
Lanthanide -- controlling*
[2016-7-08. : 10:15 am]
LoveLess -- We ignore heroes and immortalize criminals.
[2016-7-08. : 10:15 am]
Lanthanide -- gun control is about controller the owner of the gun
[2016-7-08. : 10:15 am]
Lanthanide -- Americans generally rebel against restrictive legislation
[2016-7-08. : 10:14 am]
Lanthanide -- other countries are much more accepting of regulations placed on guns, and materials that can be used to make bombs
[2016-7-08. : 10:14 am]
LoveLess -- No shit, which is why gun owners are annoyed in the US... Which is where most of my point lies. Stop blaming the instrument.
[2016-7-08. : 10:14 am]
Lanthanide -- really it all comes down to the American ideal of 'freedom', something that most other countries simply don't cherish in the same way you do
[2016-7-08. : 10:14 am]
Lanthanide -- you've got quite a few things to fix up then, haven't you?
[2016-7-08. : 10:13 am]
LoveLess -- I am just saying, we have as many domestic bombings as we have shootings.
[2016-7-08. : 10:13 am]
Lanthanide -- and, once again, in other countries, many bomb making materials are strictly controlled
[2016-7-08. : 10:13 am]
Lanthanide -- because the components that you make a bomb from have other legitimate uses; guns for the most part don't
[2016-7-08. : 10:12 am]
LoveLess -- When somebody uses a bomb, they are after the bomber and not the companies that he bought the shit to make it from. Then somebody uses a gun, they are after the guns.
[2016-7-08. : 10:11 am]
Lanthanide -- people don't use airplanes or bombs in other (developed) countries, so it's odd to think that America is so uniquely bloodthirsty that without guns, you'd find other impractical ways to kill people
[2016-7-08. : 10:10 am]
LoveLess -- Though guns make the news because guns are bad..
[2016-7-08. : 10:10 am]
Lanthanide -- so it's impractical to think introducing any form of gun control today, would make much of difference in the short the medium term
[2016-7-08. : 10:10 am]
LoveLess -- Oh wait, we already have those too!
[2016-7-08. : 10:10 am]
LoveLess -- Sure they would use airplanes and bombs instead.
[2016-7-08. : 10:10 am]
Lanthanide -- the problem, as I said earlier, is the genie is out of the bottle in the US
[2016-7-08. : 10:09 am]
Lanthanide -- it's axiomatic, that if people didn't have guns, there wouldn't be mass shootings
[2016-7-08. : 10:09 am]
Oh_Man -- lol we're having this big debate about gun control nek minute I see on the news some sort of mass police shooting just went down
[2016-7-08. : 10:09 am]
LoveLess -- I think there are a lot of other reasons we have mass shootings than our gun control
[2016-7-08. : 10:08 am]
Lanthanide -- it's the US that is an extreme abberation
[2016-7-08. : 10:08 am]
Lanthanide -- since NZ's gun control laws are pretty normal
[2016-7-08. : 10:08 am]
Lanthanide -- it would be odd to think that a country's gun control was why it was successful
[2016-7-08. : 10:07 am]
LoveLess -- And I really doubt your gun control is that big of a factor, sure it might be, but I can tell you there's other shit you're doing right
[2016-7-08. : 10:06 am]
LoveLess -- *any list seriously
[2016-7-08. : 10:06 am]
LoveLess -- Yeah I saw the list where you guys were 8th. I wouldn't take any list that thinks the US is 13th, above Germany, Belgium, Ireland, or Luxembourg
[2016-7-08. : 10:04 am]
Lanthanide -- sorry, did a google; depends what you mean by happiest
[2016-7-08. : 10:03 am]
Lanthanide -- we're 8th, apparently
