CecilSunkure -- Designing an API is a way older concept than OOP, and is *not* a methodology, unlike OOP
[2016-7-18. : 11:25 pm]
Moose -- mad AF
[2016-7-18. : 11:24 pm]
Corbo -- fuck you all
[2016-7-18. : 11:24 pm]
Corbo -- and your 100+ boxes
[2016-7-18. : 11:24 pm]
Corbo -- fuck you guys
[2016-7-18. : 11:24 pm]
CecilSunkure -- I just keep seeing ya'll bring up "OOP principles", and I really think these points are just talking about API design
[2016-7-18. : 11:23 pm]
*Generalpie flops over from the force of rektoning*
[2016-7-18. : 11:23 pm]
lil-Inferno -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Including you, probably
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
[2016-7-18. : 11:23 pm]
Moose -- Dem0n has no chill
[2016-7-18. : 11:22 pm]
CecilSunkure -- If I'm shitty it's on my own accord
[2016-7-18. : 11:22 pm]
CecilSunkure -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Including you, probably
Will not deny. But at least it's not OOP
[2016-7-18. : 11:22 pm]
Moose -- TYRANNOSAURUS REKT
[2016-7-18. : 11:21 pm]
Dem0n -- Including you, probably
[2016-7-18. : 11:20 pm]
CecilSunkure -- But we can extend the group of shiity programmers to the majority of all programmers in industry
[2016-7-18. : 11:20 pm]
CecilSunkure -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: TBH, still think Cecil is just mad at shitty programmers who adhere to paradigms without thinking, resulting in bad code. Which I'd speculate the people who invented OOP would advise against anyway.
Pretty much
[2016-7-18. : 11:19 pm]
Generalpie -- x3
[2016-7-18. : 11:05 pm]
lil-Inferno -- no, too mad about OOP
[2016-7-18. : 11:03 pm]
Sand Wraith -- anyone up for some cock sucking?
[2016-7-18. : 11:02 pm]
Sand Wraith -- if our mouths are real we can just suck their cock* jfc phone.
[2016-7-18. : 11:02 pm]
Sand Wraith -- Generalpie
Generalpie shouted: How can our husbandus be real if our eyes aren't real?
of our mouths are real we can just stick their cock
[2016-7-18. : 10:59 pm]
lil-Inferno -- w/e
[2016-7-18. : 10:42 pm]
Generalpie -- How can our husbandus be real if our eyes aren't real?
[2016-7-18. : 10:42 pm]
*Generalpie yawns and flops over*
[2016-7-18. : 10:40 pm]
Sand Wraith -- lil-Inferno
lil-Inferno shouted: That's why context is important ROFL
Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Accounting for context is thinking, not OOP. C|X^DDDDD
yeah i know
[2016-7-18. : 10:39 pm]
Moose -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: lil-Inferno in the level mengsk decides to leave kerri on the planet to not risk his army as the planet is being overrun with zerg, 20BC's is nothing compared to the swarm
The swarm that's so powerful it's a mission failure if you destroy any of their buildings. C|X^D
[2016-7-18. : 10:35 pm]
Dem0n -- He gave himself up, and then the next mission Fenix is like "WE HAVE TO SAVE TASSADAR!" Like nigga that's what he wanted.
[2016-7-18. : 10:35 pm]
Vrael -- you kids and your vernacular
[2016-7-18. : 10:35 pm]
Dem0n -- sense*
[2016-7-18. : 10:35 pm]
Vrael -- what does SMH mean? I dont understand your sentence because all the words arent spelled out
[2016-7-18. : 10:35 pm]
Dem0n -- Moose, we have to rescue Tassadar, even though it doesn't make sen
[2016-7-18. : 10:34 pm]
Moose -- SMH, taking things personally to talk about yourself in 2016
[2016-7-18. : 10:34 pm]
Dem0n -- Apparently this is Civilization, where like 5 infantry units are supposed to represent an entire battalion LMAO
[2016-7-18. : 10:34 pm]
Vrael -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Vrael Next you're going to tell us that the big capital city in an old RPG with only ten NPCs to interact with was supposed to represent a huge population
wtf dude my big capital city had at least 15 NPC's, use some imagination
[2016-7-18. : 10:33 pm]
Moose -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: uhg, the levels themselves were just a represnation of the story, not the story itself
Next you're going to tell us that the big capital city in an old RPG with only ten NPCs to interact with was supposed to represent a huge population
[2016-7-18. : 10:33 pm]
Vrael -- because you like wasting your money? I don't know why you do stuff
[2016-7-18. : 10:33 pm]
Dem0n -- Why am I playing the missions if they don't tell me anything? Why don't I just read a transcript of what happened and treat it as a novel?
[2016-7-18. : 10:33 pm]
Vrael -- ur a shit campaign
[2016-7-18. : 10:33 pm]
Vrael -- representation**, because SC couldnt handle 8 billion zerg units on its old pentium II 350 Mhz processor
[2016-7-18. : 10:32 pm]
Dem0n -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: uhg, the levels themselves were just a represnation of the story, not the story itself
That's a definite sign of a shit campaign
[2016-7-18. : 10:32 pm]
Moose -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: The Zerg campaign in vanilla is "spend 7 missions killing random terrans for no reason, and then spend the last 3 missions killing the protoss because we suddenly discovered Aiur and want to go there." That's it
You forgot gathering and transporting crystals X^D
[2016-7-18. : 10:32 pm]
Vrael -- uhg, the levels themselves were just a represnation of the story, not the story itself
[2016-7-18. : 10:32 pm]
lil-Inferno -- Or just yamato the fuck out of them LMAO
[2016-7-18. : 10:31 pm]
Dem0n -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: lil-Inferno in the level mengsk decides to leave kerri on the planet to not risk his army as the planet is being overrun with zerg, 20BC's is nothing compared to the swarm
Compared to what? The small base behind yours with like 10 buildings and 5 zerglings? You're saying BCs can't outrun them?
[2016-7-18. : 10:31 pm]
Vrael -- sure, zerg sux w/e
[2016-7-18. : 10:31 pm]
Dem0n -- Half the mission briefings for the Zerg missions are the Overmind saying one sentence to you. Fucking horrible.
[2016-7-18. : 10:30 pm]
Dem0n -- The Zerg campaign in vanilla is "spend 7 missions killing random terrans for no reason, and then spend the last 3 missions killing the protoss because we suddenly discovered Aiur and want to go there." That's it
[2016-7-18. : 10:30 pm]
Vrael -- lil-Inferno
lil-Inferno shouted: Vrael Kerrigan asks for transport despite you having like 20 battlecruisers and dropships.
in the level mengsk decides to leave kerri on the planet to not risk his army as the planet is being overrun with zerg, 20BC's is nothing compared to the swarm
[2016-7-18. : 10:30 pm]
lil-Inferno -- Shit writing TBH
[2016-7-18. : 10:29 pm]
Vrael -- sc2 by contrast is "heres the good guys and heres the bad guys, evil aliens obvi bad"
[2016-7-18. : 10:29 pm]
lil-Inferno -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I will challenge
Kerrigan asks for transport despite you having like 20 battlecruisers and dropships.
[2016-7-18. : 10:28 pm]
Vrael -- abandoning trusted lieutenants in the quest for power, revenge genocide, facist dictatorships, all the good stuff
[2016-7-18. : 10:28 pm]
Vrael -- I will challenge
[2016-7-18. : 10:28 pm]
Vrael -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: lil-Inferno tbh he's right when saying SC's campaign writing and gameplay are awful LMAO
the original sc and brood war campaign writing was great
[2016-7-18. : 10:27 pm]
jjf28 -- :moose::wob::moose:
[2016-7-18. : 10:26 pm]
Moose -- Accounting for context is thinking, not OOP. C|X^DDDDD
[2016-7-18. : 10:24 pm]
lil-Inferno -- That's why context is important ROFL
[2016-7-18. : 10:24 pm]
lil-Inferno -- ok
[2016-7-18. : 10:23 pm]
Sand Wraith -- I'm not gonna write a throwaway script using oop principles
[2016-7-18. : 10:19 pm]
jjf28 -- w/e imo*
[2016-7-18. : 10:19 pm]
Dem0n -- w/e
[2016-7-18. : 10:19 pm]
lil-Inferno -- That was a redundant imo, imo.
[2016-7-18. : 10:18 pm]
Dem0n -- Really? I think it's served best in a computer, imo.
[2016-7-18. : 10:17 pm]
Sacrieur -- I mean I like spaghetti as much as the next guy, but not in my computer.
[2016-7-18. : 10:17 pm]
Sacrieur -- It's spaghetti code against maintainable code.
[2016-7-18. : 10:16 pm]
jjf28 -- I took a quick look for studies comparing procedural and OOP and... came up with squat; so this is probably just a religious war (actually worse since there are tons of easily queryable studies on religion :P )
[2016-7-18. : 10:14 pm]
lil-Inferno -- OOP? Ha. More like pOOP LMAO
[2016-7-18. : 10:13 pm]
Moose -- Nah, you have to use his set of OOP rules which are completely uncompromising and have to be followed to the letter, which all your idiots who studied CS and/or program professionally don't actually use. Because to only apply a subset of the rules and only the good principles is thinking and not OOP. Cecil IMO.
[2016-7-18. : 10:10 pm]
jjf28 -- if it's not the latter, I'd bet that your performance&maintainability issues could be solved without breaking any reasonably generic OOP rules
[2016-7-18. : 9:59 pm]
jjf28 -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Roy Nope that's basic API design, which requires actual thought unlike OOP. And yes, regrettably, my example was basic OOP methodology.
your example was specifically working against maintainability --> it's bad OOP, I know of no generic OOP rule that states classes must wrap all superclass methods; unless your compiler is just terrible and uses pointers to each superclasse rather than compiling the inheritence tree into one struct
