[2016-12-23. : 5:34 pm]
TF- -- lil-Inferno
lil-Inferno shouted: w/estworld

[2016-12-23. : 5:29 pm]
IskatuMesk -- premise doesn't really snag me as interesting, so w/e lmao $stacc$ based
[2016-12-23. : 5:28 pm]
lil-Inferno -- w/estworld
[2016-12-23. : 5:25 pm]
Apos -- He did a pretty good job on Westworld
[2016-12-23. : 5:24 pm]
IskatuMesk -- that he even still has a job is baffling
[2016-12-23. : 5:24 pm]
Apos -- So he is mostly there for his money
[2016-12-23. : 5:23 pm]
Apos -- He is the executive producer in this
[2016-12-23. : 5:23 pm]
IskatuMesk -- essentially a proponent of the loudness war.
[2016-12-23. : 5:23 pm]
IskatuMesk -- he is terrible at direction, terrible at art, and shits all over everything I've seen him in
[2016-12-23. : 5:23 pm]
Apos -- What's wrong with him?
[2016-12-23. : 5:22 pm]
IskatuMesk -- J. J. Abrams nope
[2016-12-23. : 5:19 pm]
Apos -- I'm surprised I never heard anyone talk about it
[2016-12-23. : 5:19 pm]
Apos -- Just found the series 11/22/63 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/11.22.63 It's really good.
[2016-12-23. : 5:11 pm]
IskatuMesk -- despite being unbalanced as shit
[2016-12-23. : 5:11 pm]
IskatuMesk -- castlefight alas has never been bested
[2016-12-23. : 4:54 pm]
lil-Inferno -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: What came first anyway. Sand Castle Wars or Desert Strike?
Preschool Showdown
[2016-12-23. : 3:26 pm]
NudeRaider -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: how are the popular versions of sc2 spawn their units? still via structures or do you place units in a spawning zone to be able to control unit positioning, too?
the latter.
[2016-12-23. : 3:25 pm]
NudeRaider -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: And DS came out in what, 2009?
don't have the first versions anymore but a later ones of my branch are dated december 2008
[2016-12-23. : 3:16 pm]
Ahli -- how are the popular versions of sc2 spawn their units? still via structures or do you place units in a spawning zone to be able to control unit positioning, too?
[2016-12-23. : 2:16 pm]
NudeRaider -- exposure and accessibility.
[2016-12-23. : 2:15 pm]
NudeRaider -- I guess the appeal of DS in particular (and the Castle Fight variant I played) is simplicity. It was built from the start to be a super simple and accessible fun map. And because it was that there were a lot of people that improved on it, simply making it the community's favorite.
[2016-12-23. : 2:13 pm]
NudeRaider -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: Dumb question now that I think about it. WC3 had a ton of popular unit spawners, but Desert Strike was like cocaine for SC2 arcade.
Castle Fight in wc3 was remade in sc by theleo_ua. I loved it so much but had to many trigger related issues that I decided to remake it.
[2016-12-23. : 2:12 pm]
NudeRaider -- LoveLess
LoveLess shouted: What came first anyway. Sand Castle Wars or Desert Strike?
If you open my versions of DS the description even says that it's similar to SCW :D
[2016-12-23. : 2:12 pm]
NudeRaider -- SEN super slow. :(
[2016-12-23. : 1:19 pm]
Corbo -- Yeah, you just read a 2 pages argument defending that an average is an average.
[2016-12-23. : 1:09 pm]
jjf28 -- did I just read 2 shoutbox pages asserting "a population playing on even teams will average 50% W/L" :O
[2016-12-23. : 7:59 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Swampfox
Swampfox shouted: hmm when ive been in here for awhile new messages seem to lock up my browser :|
shoutbox likes to break until you ctrl+f5
[2016-12-23. : 7:56 am]
LoveLess -- http://www.staredit.net/m/shoutbox/ or something
[2016-12-23. : 7:55 am]
LoveLess -- Well just a version of it designed for mobile would be dope.
[2016-12-23. : 7:54 am]
LoveLess -- Shoutbox app when
[2016-12-23. : 7:54 am]
Swampfox -- hmm when ive been in here for awhile new messages seem to lock up my browser :|
[2016-12-23. : 7:54 am]
LoveLess -- I know lmao just saying, it has a much bigger population in SC2 and beat out MANY competitors
[2016-12-23. : 7:53 am]
Swampfox -- people still play it in bw lol
[2016-12-23. : 7:53 am]
LoveLess -- And DS came out in what, 2009?
[2016-12-23. : 7:53 am]
LoveLess -- Dumb question now that I think about it. WC3 had a ton of popular unit spawners, but Desert Strike was like cocaine for SC2 arcade.
[2016-12-23. : 7:52 am]
Lanthanide -- SCW
[2016-12-23. : 7:52 am]
LoveLess -- What came first anyway. Sand Castle Wars or Desert Strike?
[2016-12-23. : 7:51 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- what are the chances of ties?
[2016-12-23. : 7:51 am]
Swampfox -- each game scenario is independent of others
[2016-12-23. : 7:50 am]
Swampfox -- ok yes
[2016-12-23. : 7:50 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Lanthanide
Lanthanide shouted: as opposed to a 3FFA where 1 player loses early, and the remaining 2 players go on to tie
even if the ties were counted as wins it would skew it ;o
[2016-12-23. : 7:50 am]
Lanthanide -- and all players in the game tied...
[2016-12-23. : 7:50 am]
Swampfox -- if 50% of all games ended in tie
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Swampfox -- im just thinking aloud here
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Lanthanide -- so if you are only concerned with W:L, it makes no difference
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Swampfox -- which is 1:2 without ties
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Lanthanide -- a 0L + 3T + 0W doesn't alter the W or L count in any way
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Swampfox -- for the 3ffa games
[2016-12-23. : 7:49 am]
Lanthanide -- so if you're only looking at L and W, then an outcome that generates L in a different ratio to W would skew the total population
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
Swampfox -- the all tie scenario
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
Swampfox -- i meant for
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
Lanthanide -- as opposed to the normal 2L + 0T + 1W
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
Lanthanide -- yes, because it'd be an outcome of 1L + 2T + 0W
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
Swampfox -- hmm that would skew the overall w:l ratio wouldnt it?
[2016-12-23. : 7:48 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I guess that depends on the type of game, too
[2016-12-23. : 7:47 am]
Lanthanide -- as opposed to a 3FFA where 1 player loses early, and the remaining 2 players go on to tie
[2016-12-23. : 7:47 am]
Lanthanide -- so long as whenever 1 player gets a tie, all other players in the game also get a tie
[2016-12-23. : 7:47 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I would say ties don't count toward a win or loss
[2016-12-23. : 7:46 am]
Lanthanide -- now if you allowed 'tied' games, it's a whole different story
[2016-12-23. : 7:46 am]
Lanthanide -- if it's a mixture of game types, the population's win:loss ratio will proportionally reflect that mix of games
[2016-12-23. : 7:45 am]
Lanthanide -- or if everyone always plays 3FFA and never 1v1, then the win:loss ratio will always be 1:2
[2016-12-23. : 7:45 am]
Lanthanide -- if it is possible to play 3FFA games, but no one ever does, then the win:loss ratio will always be 1:1
[2016-12-23. : 7:45 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Lanthanide
Lanthanide shouted: no, it only depends on the proportion of games played with each possible outcome
.. or that
[2016-12-23. : 7:45 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- well in the ideal scenario it doesn't, but in practice it will
[2016-12-23. : 7:45 am]
Lanthanide -- no, it only depends on the proportion of games played with each possible outcome
[2016-12-23. : 7:44 am]
Swampfox -- skill doesnt make a difference
[2016-12-23. : 7:44 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- it wouldn't because we don't live in an ideal world. There are going to be players that are always way better (or worse) than everyone that will skew it
[2016-12-23. : 7:44 am]
Lanthanide -- if 50% of all games are 1v1 with win = loss, and 50% are 3FFA where 1 win = 2 loss, then for every 1 win there would be 1.5 losers in the total population
[2016-12-23. : 7:43 am]
Swampfox -- unless there are other gamemodes i suppose
