Science Vessel Arena

Science Vessel Arena is an arena-based game. You control science vessels and try to kill the other science vessels by EMPing them. The gameplay in this map is incredibly stupid, yet it is made well. I suggest getting stoned before playing.

Update - 02/23/11
I have released version 1.03. It is not everything I promised it to be but I have fallen out of map making a long time ago and I managed to convince myself to release what I had done. Anything that was unfinished was removed.

Pre-Match setup

• Before the game begins you get to set up the match style.
• There are 2 game modes.
------- 10 Deaths - Simple enough, die 10 times you are out.
------- Capture The Flag - Your objective is to control the flag and not die. As long as you control the flag your score will continuously go up.
• You can choose the arena size by sieging/unsieging the arena size tank.
• You can choose how much hp your science vessels have by buying the marines and medics. The crystals to the left of the barrack show the amount of hp. The minimum is 1 and the max is 4.

Gameplay

As I’ve already stated the gameplay in this game is somewhat lacking. I didn’t expect much out of it, it was just suppose to be a random map.

• EMP your opponents to drain their health. The max health is based off the pregame setting
• There are some abilities in the top left you can use. Simply unload the spell you want to use. Make sure you have enough gas.
------- Random Teleport - Simply teleports you to a random location. You can use this to dodge emp.
------- Mine - Creates a mine under you science vessel. You can only use this ability when your science vessel is not near any other science vessels. Beware, once a mine is activated, it knows no ally.
------- +1 hp - Lets you take 1 additional EMP shot.
• After dying you will revive in about 3-5 seconds at a random area.

• You can play unlimited amount of rounds each game because the game resets itself after the match.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
