This game features oil exchange. The oil price goes up when more oil is bought. It goes down when more oil is sold.

Ships cannot go over land, but they are the best value for the money.

Oil wells on land and sea can be claimed by buildings, lifted, landed, or built near.

Only three countries - Russia, China, and India - have nuclear technology. S. Korea can acquire 1 nuclear silo from N. Korea.

Only three countries - S. Korea, Japan, and India - have Aegis destroyers. They are slightly stronger and cheaper to fix than the Guided-missile destroyers.

Only three countries - Japan, China, and S. Korea - can conduct renewable energy research (i.e. physics lab). This projects brings profit of $800 and 100 gas every turn.

Countries start with incomes reflecting their real GDP. However, smaller countries have easier expansions or unit upgrades.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
