My friend who's Korean poorly attempted to tell me how he got starcraft. He says a friend (from korea) bought it for him very cheaply, by downloading it, and gave it to him. When I asked what server he plays on, he said "Fish". (I was really lost from that point there) I asked him if he could get on USEast, or Asia, and he said "No. Fish. It's not "real" Starcraft. Its just Starcraft" By that point I gave up. Do you know what the hell hes talking about?

We do a little trolling

It might be a private server or something. Like SF's realm.

My Projects:

Impossible Ultraviolet | Impossible UV 2 | Impossible UV 3
Mercenaries 2020 | Mercenaries III
Squad Defense

Legacy Projects (No guarantee of functionality in modern SC):

Pixel Adventure 2 | Space Snipers | Control the Ball

Korean Starcraft people have their own servers, which is mostly hosted by a large community, mostly because of tournaments and such. One of another highly populated server is Brain, it is known for it's extreme hardcore pro bounders.

I found these on a korean site on Naver, these files if pasted to a .reg file can edit your gateway list so you can access BrainClan, for example.

Tell your friend to be more like Dazed, and get on USEast.

While in Korea, I asked the host of the hostel I stayed at, who was an avid Starcraft and WoW player, why Starcraft became such a phenomenon in Korea. He told me that many copies of Starcraft in Korea are actually pirated or otherwise obtained free of charge, and that it's one of the reasons why it became so popular: because of its availability, anyone could play it.

Fish is a server that many koreans melee on, it's really popular. Brain is as well. Asia is practically empty now.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
[04:26 am]
Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[06:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
