Cruisin' on that LSD

I want the portrait to show up as static for human players in a map. How would this constant static be achieved? Thx in advance

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

1. Use the "Talking Portrait" action.
2. Set it to show for 0 milliseconds.
3. Preserve the trigger to constantly run.

Is that the effect you want?

Actually, 0 milliseconds will cause it to flicker black if you have nothing selected. Use 100 milliseconds and it'll always be the same static. The only problem with the 100 millisecond method is you won't be able to center on a currently selected unit by clicking on its portrait. But I assume if you want to disable the portrait you probably don't care about that.

None.

I used the effect before, checked the map to see what I did, basically what Roy said except 1000 ms. Not sure what my reasoning was for using 1000, but I just played the map to see it and the static effect looked good so I guess.

What I find works as well is setting the talking portrait to some invalid unit that doesn't have a portrait, like an Alan Turret, or that unit called "Unused." Sometimes it might show up as a frozen Terran Marine, but they normally just become static.

Ultraviolet -- just sent you a message on Discord. I suspect you're probably trying to change unit speeds for units that don't use flingy.dat for movement (like any units that walk instead of hovering/flying). You can change their movement to flingy, but they unfortunately look more like they're gliding than walking when you do that.

Symmetry -- EE2, I've been using setdatfile successfully for units.dat and weapons.dat but the flingy changes don't seem to happen

Ultraviolet -- in EE2 you just open DatEdit, go to the flingy tab, and make whatever changes you want. Though if you want to do dynamic shit, you have to use the trigger editor with the setdatfile action. And of course you have to inject your changes when done. Can give more specific troubleshooting advice if you provide more details
