Whenever I make a new map with ANY map editor, it screws up the player/color setting.

Say I make 2 Command Centers, 1 for me, 1 more enemy computer. Say I was Slot 1, Map editor setting is that P1=Red. So I'm on slot 1, Computer is slot 5, I start the game in single player OR multiplayer, and I end up not being Red. I become a random color, and yes, sometimes red. But If I make a force where 5 players are humans and another force where 3 computers are on that force...

It swaps me around. If Im on slot 1, I end up being Teal P5, or Yellow P2. This happens to ALL slots. My Player place and colors are being swapped around. anything to stabalize the colors/players so if im slot 1 im player 1 AND red all the time? If someone needs an example map... download the attachment and open with a map editor. You'll see that Red/P1 CC is on the top left, Blues CC is on top right/ Teals on bottom right, purps on bottom left. However if you play this ingame, YOU WILL NOT BE P1/RED ALL THE TIME. YOU'LL END UP HAVING SOME ONE ELSE'S CC, ETC ETC. If Im slot 1, i end up with like Bottom left Yellow CC, etc.

In the map editor's player setting, Red is P1, and anything owned by P1 is Red.. but ingame, it gives me a random color, as well as a random player within the force. So in a 5 player force, I can end up being any color and any player(in that force) regardless of what slot I'm in that force.

Bottom Line, I am not the player I am assigned to. I can end up being Blue as player 1, or teal as player 5, etc etc. As Slot 1, I can end up being a yellow P5, ETc, etc.

she/her

Go into the Forces section and uncheck "Random Start Location" from all of the forces.

(For SCMDraft2, this is Scenario/Forces.)

Symmetry -- Man I wish we had this tech back in the day when people played ums lmao

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
