When you create an archon via triggers it goes through the animation that is the exact same as "being done melded". Could you just cast stasis right after the archon is created, and have it hit at the desired moment in the animation?

Actually, it will work it if works how you originally described it. The only reason it wouldn't work is if you don't actually know
why it works, and only know how to make it work.
It may have something to do with actual melding itself just creating archons doesn't work, and where the archon starts when created by triggers is a few frames past when/where you need to stasis it. But you're right I'm not completely sure on how and why it works.

When archon finishes melding it sets the unit state to a way such that it behaves as a normal unit, so it resets things like invincibility, frozen-ness, etc.
Morphing units actually change the unit to something completely different, and that process is instant and does not cause this glitch due to the replacement of the unit with another.
P.S. Maelstrom emerging zerg units, especially morphed queens/ultralisks ;o
