I need help hosting on starcraft. i can't host. i have a ton of maps. no one plays what i want to... i would much rather host xD.

Info:
vista
wireless internet
internet from neighbors
no anti-spy ware/anti-virus software
starcraft IS allowed in my firewall

if you could tell me, what to do and how to do it that would be awesome. (be super descriptive... i have no common sense!)

This should go into General Starcraft, not Null.

If the internet is coming from your neighbors, they probably don't have battle.net ports opened. So unless you can open 6112 TCP and UDP as well as 4000 TCP, you probably won't be able to host games.

1) Why are you using your neighbors internet? Unless you don't want to go and ask to turn off their firewall, get your own.
2) ...

Jacking some internets from your neighbor's is not nice, thus you must pay the price.

In other words:
Seeing that you are on the neighbor's internet connection, they must open the ports for you if you want to host on Battle.net.

In simpler words:
"lol ur fukd d00d"

i'm using my neighbor's internet, because i'm not 18, and my dad has piss poor credit so i cant pay him to get internet for me. Otherwise, id be all for it seeing how i got a job to pay for it. But since i don't have a my own internet... screw it, ill be un-neighborly. xD.

Aside, thanks 4 th information.

I can't host games either for some reason either.

I have no router, I'm plugged directly into the wall. I have no windows firewall on; I have kapersky Internet Security (but even this is turned off sometimes). This happened like a month and a half ago, all of a sudden I couldn't host at all. I don't recall doing anything to my computer. I've gone everywhere on my comp and opened ports 6112 TCP and UDP but it doesn't help at all. Is there something else I might be missing?

We do a little trolling

midget_man, you may still be able to access their router and change settings, which would be fairly lulzy. Possibly go to http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.0. If anything comes up try putting nothing (don't type anything) in as the username, and admin in as the password. If that doesn't work you can try admin as the username and no password. On my router it's the first one. There's a list of default passwords somewhere that you can try, if you get something requesting a password when you travel to one of those addresses. Although, it's possible that they changed their username and password, in which case you're screwed. If you get as far as I told you post in the topic again and I'll tell you where to go from there.

Run > CMD.

Type IPConfig

Get Default gateway and type into IE.

Look for Port forwarding

OK, the admin as password worked.

I go to Applications & Gaming and in the first row I put
Name - Battle.net Start - 6112 End - 6117 Protocol - both TCP and UDP IP address - my ip address Enable - Check!

Then I click Save Settings.

And people still can't join my games. What am I doing wrong? I've already allowed 6112 for both TCP and UDP in my computer's firewall (but not any others)

For SC you only need 6112 on UDP.

Reboot router + computer.

Try going into your neighbors router configuration, maybe they haven't changed the password from the default one :P

Edit:

Oh, you already did that :P okay, try doing UDP and TCP and see if that fixes it.

Reading is a good skill. Try doing that to his post ;o.

I think you do have to restart your computer, at least, and probably the router too. Also try starting a 6111, just in case. That's what I did on mine, and it works swell. You may have to wait a while, if you don't have any access to your neighbors router, until they end up resetting it. Then it should work.

Most routers will restart automatically when necessary, and I'm pretty sure the computer has nothing to do with it.

If you mess around with DMZ then you probably will need a reboot.
