I hope you guys are enjoying your April fools, but I want to point you to this one:

http://www.starcraft2.com/features/terran/taurenmarine.xml

Yes, it is an April fools joke, but don't forget that blizzard said that any units not actually put in the final melee/campaign game will still all be usable in the Map editor. And from what you can see, it is a real unit so you should expect to be able to use Tauren Marines in the map editor ;)

Relatively ancient and inactive

Yeah, I can already see it:
There is a cow level!
Don't touch the cow!
Cow tag!
Crazy Marines!

Like someone else said,
TAUREN BLOOD

Now all we have to do is prevent DotA.

Responsible for my own happiness? I can't even be responsible for my own breakfast

It's inevitable. Resistance is futile.

all i am is a contrary canary
but i'm crazy for you
i watched you cradling a tissue box
sneezing and sniffling, you were still a fox

Because it will quickly take over, becoming #1 most popular game and halving the amount of times other games are hosted, and the communities' a bitch.

It's better than Tarpit D :P

And perhaps they just used the skills of the new editor to quickly make a new unit with their own models?

Doesn't matter. A Tauren Marine is a freakin beast. Seriously, don't fuck with a mad cow.

I think it's pretty cool how they put random elements of WC into SC and vice versa. Such as the Hydralisks, Zerglings, Marines, and Orc-Firebats in WC3. And this type of thing, lulz.

Those marines just tore through those probes like they were paper.
It was like a metal confetti explosion.

Well, DotA did originate from Starcraft's Aeon of Strife game afterall -_-

I would be ok with dota if It wasnt hosted too much. Every other game or so on the list is dota. Someone needs to make a filter that blocks dota for non-dota-custom-map players.

If other Warcraft maps were remotely as interesting as DotA, perhaps that wouldn't happen.

Games other than DotA are WMW, "NAKED ANIME GIRL!", or the occasional Footman wars, etc.

Besides, if I host something else, people still join. The abundance of DotA games on Warcraft is not a bad thing.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
