I am checking out the Anniversary campaign right now, which you gave your seal of approval. It is in German (including the voice-overs), but thankfully, Google Translate seems to be able to do a good enough job of translating the text to English.

yeah that campaign is only for german language gamers.

Alright, Flags in the Dust has been audited. The last two missions exceed veteran difficulty and go into "too hard" territory. That combined with the overall quality of the campaign being lower than the previous andrea rosa campaigns means that I can only recommend this in certain cases, like in cases where you found previous Andrea Rosa campaigns to not be very challenging.

This concludes my auditing of all original starcraft campaigns. 4 unmodded broodwar campaigns, 1 modded broodwar remastered, and 1 broodwar 1.16.1 campaigns remain.

Next up is a redo of Starcraft Adventures episode I - The insurgent.

Yeah, I got in touch with Eredalis recently. Apparently, he is planning to have it fully localised to English in the near future.

For the time being, I guess my Google translation will have to do. The campaign is pretty good so far: I am still not done with the Terran missions, which feel like a cross between Loomings/Precursors and Insurrection. I had to edit a specific trigger to get the first mission working properly under 1.16.1 and I could not resist tweaking it a bit here and there; since this is all for my personal use anyway, I might as well use the opportunity to work on my own StarEditing skills...

Hopefully that "near future" is before October 15 2026.... would hate to see the eredalis campaigns become translated, only for me to be unable to play them because I don't have windows anymore.

Anyway, so far I am having a good time with The Insurgent, but I remember from my first attempt years ago that this gets worse with each mission.

As always, I deeply respect your opinion, but I disagree: it might not be for everyone, but I firmly believe that Flags in the Dust represents the apex of my Starcraft production, slightly above Champions of Khandia in terms of quality. Few campaigns can exhibit such detailed maps and such complex triggers, this is self-evident.

It depends on what you perceive as "too hard". People of varying skills, among which Eredalis, C(a)HeK, and DK, completed Mission 5 on their first attempt. Mission 6 is a different story, but then again, all of my playtesters managed to beat it, even though it took them more than one attempt. Of course, it isn't a scenario that you can expect to beat in one hour. ;) I remember that you couldn't beat Mission 2 of Voices of the Swarm, so yes, the last two missions of Flags in the Dust could be too hard for you.

Anyway, thank you very much for giving Flags in the Dust a try. :)

Casting pearls before swine

I have played through Chapter 1 of starcraft adventures by Luis Calderari... and it has become clear that all three chapters are a single campaign. As a result, I have merged all 3 entries in the list into a single one. The writing in Chapter 1 is still a total mess but aside from the last two missions I had a OK time with this campaign.

You cannot play StarCraft on other operating systems?

It's probably possible but difficult. Getting the mods to work sounds impossible.

Oh my. Let us hope Windows 11 either gets overhauled then; otherwise, I might just keep my aging Windows 10 rig for games like StarCraft.

Downloading StarCraft: Inconsummate from the campaign master listing gave me a "CRC failed" error when extracting the fifth mission "To Free The Beast". The download link from the official thread however gave me no such error.

I have dropped the zerg part of starcraft adventures halfway through, effectively seeing half of the campaign. The writing in the terran part is still a complete disaster. The zerg part doesn't have those issues but the gameplay becomes terrible, especially in the installation mission, and then the plot-map relation just completely breaks to pieces with some of the most illogical and bizarre things happening in zerg6. I was done after that. This campaign just simply isn't up to par. Not recommended.

The Max Fury is next...

yeah that's the thing. staying on windows 10 after October 15 simply won't be a choice any longer unless you uninstall your wifi and lan drivers. It will no longer be safe to connect it to the internet. Linux is the only path forward and the best distros at the moment are Nobara, CachyOS, and PikaOS. Of course, one could go the easy route and buy a steam machine when those are available...

Can you try to fix the Inconsummate download so that it no longer gives the 'CRC failed' error?

May 6 2026, 10:36 pm Zincoshine Post #494

it works just fine for me. Tried downloading it now. I can even open it in SCMDraft

Aside from this, I just finished The Max Fury and it is by far the best unmodded post-pandemic custom campaign made. Very polished. Lacks originality but the original ending makes up for it. A definite recommendation.

With this, my playthrough of unmodded broodwar campaigns has concluded. WOTF and butcher's ballad are the only two campaigns I have left to play. I will be checking these 2 out later though, probably in june.

That is odd. I am no longer getting one either. I did try to redownload it from the same link on that day, to no avail.

I had the pleasure of playing it a couple of months ago, and while it isn't the technical marvel that you describe, it is surely good. I appreciated the map layout, albeit the terrain is quite basic (SCMDraft2 seems to have been involved, but only for adding reverse ramps). The difficulty is well-balanced, leaning on the easy side, which allowed for a relaxing experience. My major complaint is that all mission briefings are delivered by the same character: whereas, on one hand, it makes the story feel personal and relatable, on the other hand it makes it feel unidimensional. Also, every portion of the text has "AI slop" written all over it. By contrast, I liked the implementation of AI-generated voices (probably modeled after Horace Warfield), even though they strengthened the suspect that AI played a relevant role in the making of Max Fury.

Casting pearls before swine

Alright, a couple of changes to the spreadsheet:

- The Lost Gods has been added to the list, it is a campaign using the cosmonarchy mod for starcraft 1.16.1. It is under development.
- TRENCHES has been added to the list. It is a campaign using the cosmonarchy mod for starcraft 1.16.1. I have little info about this one.

Also, I have decided to forego auditing cosmonarchy campaigns for the simple reason that the tech tree is just too complicated and the mod does not teach you it, nor does it provide you with a sandbox for trying to figure out things on your own. The tutorial missions included are anything but a tutorial. Also, this is all rather pointless for me to try and get into anyway given that in 5 months I won't even be able to play starcraft anymore.

I am about halfway done with auditing "When one domino falls". When I complete it, my 27 years with starcraft will conclude and I will not be auditing anymore campaigns. I will just show up every few months to add in any new campaigns that come out.

As far as "sandboxes" go, the Sovereign campaign - which is essentially a remake of StarCraft 1 - might be what you are looking for.
