Hi everyone,
I have been meaning to check out Karmakaze's reimagining of the original campaigns, but there are three maps that just will not open in either the game or Scmdraft 2: Episode 0's
Ashes to Ashes and Episode 1's
Desperate Alliance and
From Push To Shove.
Based on the map previews provided with the files, the first two maps feature buildings placed on "Structure" terrain, so I suspect that might be it. Not sure about the last map, however, as "Elevated Catwalk" appears to allow construction in Scmdraft 2 and most likely in vanilla StarEdit.
I reported the issue to Karmakaze themself, but they stated that the project was made using StarCraft Remastered and as such 1.16.1 is not supported, but they have no idea why Scmdraft 2 will not let me open those three maps since that is what they used themself.
So what are my options here? Is there a way I can open these three maps without having to buy Remastered?
If you want to check out the maps in question yourself, you can download them here:

None.
Episode 0's Map 3 has the new ramps from SCR. I haven't looked at the other two, but I'm going to assume it's the same reason for them.
SCR is free to download and play; it's only the HD graphics that are to be purchased, which you do not need. To open the map in SCMDraft2, you will have to install the remastered version of the game, and use a profile that points to that installation (in the Game Data tab).
Alternatively, I could privately provide you with edits of the maps with those ramps removed.
I thought StarCraft/Brood War was free to play, not Remastered since it is one that comes with the remade graphics; I do not like those one bit and I do not feel like having to log on the Battle.net client or even paying again for a game that I already own.
But if that is all that needs to be removed in order to make those maps playable in 1.16.1, then yes, that would be very much appreciated, thank you!
None.
SC:Remastered is essentially just a skin available for purchase. So, modern SC/BW is free and it's just SC:R that costs $10 or whatever. It's well worth the money imo, but you can definitely still download and play modern SC for free which includes those ramp files needed to play the maps. You do have to download the Battle.net client, but you don't have to pay anything and it doesn't require anyone else to do any work.
I will have to think about it, but these days I want nothing to do with modern Blizzard - the last Blizzard games I bought were the two WarCraft games on GOG shortly before they were delisted at Blizzard's request - and I distinctively remember having a rather unpleasant experience with post-1.16.1 builds ruining triggers in StarEdit, so I decided just not to bother at all.

Just to address this bit, there were some issues with SC:R upon initial release that have pretty much entirely been sorted out since then. It's in a pretty good state these days. I always do recommend to people to select the 32-bit client setting in the Battle.net app because especially with EUD maps, that usually resolves any funkiness.
