How do I copy&paste into and from the BW app?

As I am sure you are already aware most of the text inside the BW app cannot be directly selected. The only exception that I am aware of is the text inside the chat/console.

I found myself in innumerable situations when I wanted to copy the map name from the lobby list, the text from the chat while playing a map, certain map lobby characteristics, etc. and could not.

This has also prevented me from easily communicating with the Korean players where a simple copy-pasting technique could have helped me translate from and into Korean.

If you know of any methods of bypassing this limitation I would really be grateful.

Did you try copying from the source code?

PROFESSIONAL MAP MAKER

could get the google translate app on your phone and use the camera function which converts the text real time into english or w/e prob be faster than copy and pasting anyways. That could solve the translation issue at least. Wouldn't bet on blizzard making any copy paste changes to SC any time soon.

A bit more than 1 year later, I would say if you could find someone to find/make the right GPTP hooks, it could be possible to send those texts to a text file, as GPTP can already make a log (I've never looked in details in how it did, but either making another file, or just writing in that log if that's too complicated, could be possible).
Then you could copy from that text file.
That's for the theory at least.

edit: special thanks to the adbot that necroed the topic if that end up being useful lol

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
