Reminds me of the old LOTR RPGs just with EUDs.

Do people really enjoy the gameplay of killing pre-placed units across the map rather than a system that spawns monsters dynamically and uses Junk Yard Dog?

I guess it depends if you prefer a stage clearing based RPG map (Old school such as this one), vs more like Open-world RPG

You realize this system has been in place since the beginning of Starcraft, right? Hundreds of maps have used it. It's really not any different than having randomly spawned units walk around, especially if you get the pre-placed units to patrol or something.

You don't know what you're talking about Demon. Preplaced units just stand there and chase when shot. You can kite them and they just stop following you and return back to their initial preplaced spot. They have basically no AI and are no challenge.

Junk Yard Dog combined with patrol orders trigger and they chase you to the ends of the earth.

I didn't say one was better than the other. I said you get a similar effect to JYD if you patrol the units. Also, not everyone might want a unit following them forever. That could just be an annoyance rather than an actual challenge.

Heroes chase you to death, normal units don't I believe

Oh_Man -- Zoan missing the point entirely - we will be able to PLAY any map we want. the fact we didnt create it doesnt matter just like the fact u didnt create [insert thing here u watch/play] right now doesnt matter, only quality of the final product matters

Personally I prefer crazy Moose over sad Moose.
