1. Are there start locations for each player?

2. Are there human + computer players in the map description tab?

3. Did you use any wacky characters in the title?

You need to make sure there are human players on each force that have start locations.

Cartography Artisan

You also can't change to teams (forces) with computer players on them.

You can have computer players on your team, but you can't switch to forces that have computer players on them. So if you edit the forces to include yourself and a computer player on the same force, that will be fine.

Jun 10 2015, 6:16 pm cronos Post #13

you can only make one team?? :(

Jun 10 2015, 6:19 pm Dem0n Post #14

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

You can have up to four teams, and if you want a computer player on your team, just edit the forces to include yourself and the computer on the same force. Just click on Scenario and then Forces, and make sure you're on the same force as the computer. So if you're player 1 and the computer is player 2, make sure players 1 and 2 are on the same force.

4 teams + 1 computer on the teams so 4 computer

a team is human and computer

you can pick team too

how to do this?

cant do this?? :(

Cartography Artisan

There are only 4 forces, and you cannot move to a force with a computer on it.

So no you cannot have both the ability to switch between forces and an arrangement like...
This

You can however do something like...
This
or
This

and use the check boxes to set whether they initially share vision/are allied, then set the appropriate alliances between players and their computers (using triggers) in-game.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

You can set player colors in the Map Description section, but you can't change them mid-game. The best you could do to give a player a different colored unit is to have a rescueable computer, because rescued units retain their original color. If you need computer units to have different colors and they won't be involved in any sort of combat, you can also give a unit to the player color you want and then to Player 9-12, because units given to those players retain their color.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

The Rescuable unit approach is not very good as each rescuable computer is essentially useless and is just a "hero color". If you want to switch "teams" then I recommend you have 2 forces, one with all the humans and another with all the computers. Slot 1 would usually be red, slot 2 blue, etc...

You can also choose your player's starting location (not the start location, just the location which the player has its units) via triggers and a choice mechanism similar to choosing a country in Diplomacy.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
