So this January I got Windows 8 by my friend and I am loving it.
When i try to open up a map, It always go to a black screen when I try to load up a map. I tried everything about the compatibility of it and I get nothing. Any ideas?

When I had 8, I didn't have this problem. In fact, it even fixed the discoloration problem 7 had. I haven't played since, but I'd try upgrading to windows 8.1.

I'll have to download BroodWar again and see for myself. Are you running the packaged version from Battle.net or are you running the client from the CDs?

I'm running the ICCUP version of it. But I don't play online since Bnet UI is blarg.

Unfortunately, I've never used the launcher at all, and don't know how it works so I can't really help you there.

Oh okay. Well it does work in Windowed mode, but it kinda annoys me to play in Windowed mode.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
