Need to upgrade my motherboard

My motherboard is broken. Sometimes the sound will not be on for my computer, and the dual monitor function is also broken. This computer fried several times because of the motherboard. Even my old graphics card melted.

Here are the specs

Planning on also upgrading to Windows 7 soon after the new motherboard. I don't want to spend too much. I use this computer to play SC2 and LoL.

None.

it sounds like driver issues.

Upgrade to windows 7 before you buy a new motherboard and see if it's still an issue.

What fried on the computer? PSUs are more commonly the problem for something frying. Motherboards or cpus are usually the ones doing the frying, though gpus can be fried too usually due to driver issues.

Where can I buy Windows 7 for cheap?

None.

I'm also skeptical about the mobo being broken. And when it is, usually the computer won't work at all or freezes frequently. Frying hardware is pretty uncommon, as rockz said.

Why do you think it's the mobo? Any evidence?

Download the iso from Microsoft. They are offering it for free. It'll be a fully functional version for 30 days.
Then you'll need a key to activate it which you can probably get from eBay for cheap. Just make sure it's no scam.

I upgraded to Windows 7. Did not fix the problem at all. I am still facing the sound card problem.

My dual monitor also does not work at all. I tried switching with several monitors.

for audio, are you able to swap out your speakers with headphones or use the front port?
for video, both ports do not work, or you are just unable to use them? How does the problem manifest itself exactly?

I have to use the port in the front, but sometimes it does not work. It's like 50/50.

For my video card, the bottom port does not work.

I can't quite make head or tails of the symptoms, to be honest. Maybe it is something with the mobo maybe not. But first I'd try calling a PC adept friend over who checks your BIOS settings.

Then there's other things you can try like removing the power cord and switching the computer on (to remove any charge). Or try to replace / reinsert RAM or put it into other memory banks.
I'd also try to install a different video card and see if you can get all ports to work (in single monitor mode first, one after another).
Also try switching to onBoard sound (the sound card is discrete right?)

Those are all pretty generic suggestions and will probably just help to gain more information rather to actually fix the problem.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
