If you make a trigger that constantly tries to move the unit to an unwalkable area (water/cliff tile), the unit will get "stunned." I think.

Demon thinks correctly, however you'll need hyper triggers for it to work.

and some units with little millisecond attack animations, like the zergling, can still attack through it via spam clicking.

give units to neutral player 9-12, makes them stop completely, then give them back to original player

This would also make them unselectable. (if combined with hypers)

Thx guys! I'll try em all in a few.

Edit : Moving to water / cliff doesn't work. I'll do neutral

It works. It makes any ground unit unable to move or attack if you have hyper triggers.
What exactly is it that doesn't work?

I put a cliff tile set somewhere off in the distance outside of the arena...Issued the people who the stun effects to move to it, and they actually moved to the corner of the arena.

That doesn't sound very clear to me, so i'll put it like this.

The cliff tileset is on the bottom right hand of map. I ordered them to move to it, and they moved to the bottom right hand of arena.

Edit : Does same thing with water. Yes I am using hyper triggers.

You're not supposed to order them to move to the location. You have to use the "Move unit to location" action, which basically teleports the unit to the desired location. ;o

Something like this:

Trigger
Players
  • All Players
  • Conditions
  • Whatever your condition is
  • Actions
  • Move x [men] for [player] at 'unitLocation' to 'stunLocation'.
  • Preserve trigger.

Oooooh. I must've read it wrong! My bad! I'll try that now.

    Edit : Works fine, thanks!

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
