Wireless keyboard?

ohi SEN. I moved my desktop downstairs and hooked it up to my TV ... except the keyboard I have, in addition to being broken and having some non-functioning keys, doesn't reach the couch (unless I set it on the floor and type with my toes ... yeah). I've used a wireless keyboard at a friend's house long ago (in much the same set up) and loved it. Does anyone know of any to help me? After googling a bit I see prices around $50-$80. Is this even worth it, or should I just go get a wired USB keyboard at like Walmart for $20 and use a USB extension (I have plenty)? This computer will pretty much only be good for watching movies/netflix ... I used to use it for playing games, but this laptop I got is much better. :awesome:

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions much appreciated!

Anything wireless sux imo. Random disconnects and the need for batteries are the most annoying problems.

If you don't mind a cable lying across the room I'd go for an USB extension.

this is what I use.

Depending on the quality you get, you can spend less.

I had the same setup and wireless do suck. You would think that a wireless would had at least some radius, they don't. It was so short that I had to keep the sensor on the floor so it would work. When I asked about the radius in the shop they told me that's that. I eventually stepped on the sensor a couple of times and it broke. Use the USB extensions. ;)

None.

USB keyboard with a usb extension. Should reach your couch. If not, add more USB extension.
Edit: should have read previous posts before posting. Sorry.

That says for ps3 ... is it limited to ps3?

I guess I'll just go for USB extensions. ;o I'll need to get a keyboard, though.

no it's bluetooth. Bluetooth keyboards work with anything bluetooth. The reason I like it is because it has a trackpad. The reason I don't like it is because it has no windows button.

For media, getting a keyboard with some sort of mouse on it is extremely useful.

Does it come with a bluetooth receiver or would I have to get one of those too? (Aren't they like $10?)

Mine was $1. Looks like they're not on sale, so it's the normal $1.50.

:O! I just bought a couple of those (2 for $2.09). xD I never would've expected $1... and I wanted to get one for my dad. Perfect!

Anyway.. Not sure if I should spend $70 on a keyboard. :P
And, in looking at walmart (as I said I would in OP) for a cheap (wired) keyboard, the first result was actually this. I'm assuming that's total crap, but would something like that work well enough? Like I said in the first post, this computer will not be used for much more than netflix/movies, so $70 seems kinda pricey.

Microsoft 2.4 GHz wireless delivers a secured and reliable connection with up to a 15-foot range.

You're going to want one that says it delivers a 30 foot range.

15 feet seems plenty, or is this more like a "in absolute ideal conditions, you may get up to 15 feet ... but most likely you'll get 6" deal?

EDIT:
This one says 10 meters. xD

the latter.

which is why you should try to get the longest distance possible. Wireless keyboards are notorious for not traveling.

I have a similar one to this, and I thought it was a good buy at the time. No idea how well it actually turned out because it's at my parent's house and I don't know how much they use it. I just highly advise against getting a wireless mouse PLUS wireless keyboard for any sort of HTPC. If you're going to be on a desk, then the wireless mouse will be fine, but IMO, it's double the things to keep track of, double the batteries, and double the connection problems.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
