Can't open map file anymore...

I was using scmd2 and did a few things like edit triggers and use the trigedit on it. After a point, when I wanted to save triggers, I opened up xtraEdit and tried to open the map... but it says can't be opened anymore T_T it's the same message is if the map were protected.

What should I do?

What do you mean by save triggers? You shouldn't jump around from editor to editor, you're prone to get problems like this.

Sometimes if you are playing the map on bnet to test and try to open it while your playing, it won't open.

You also can't save a map that is running in SC.

scmd2 doesn't provide the "Save triggers" thing, right? I've worked around it by directly copy and pasting the word-processed triggers into the trigEdit.

I see o_O though I've never really had that problem.

Does it still open in SCM Draft? If so, why not just stick with it?

Thigh high affectionado

Always create your map in a stable editor before moving to another. SCX-tra being the most stable (And least modded) should be a start, if not Staredit.exe itself.

Trust me, you start a map in SF, you'd better stay with SF.

Sure I didn't pop off on SCBW like I wanted to, but I won VRChat. Map maker for life.

Not so much as that I wont stick with scmd, but rather, an option has been taken out and whatever I may have done slightly worries me.

Can you post the map and we'll see if we can fix it?

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
