"Common sense" applies to things like "is the steaming coffee hot?", not "is ___ allowed, though it wasn't previously and it was not currently stated to be against the rules?".
I'd advise both of you to learn the difference between what isn't allowed because it's stated as such, and what is allowed because it's not illegal. You cannot get thrown in jail for following the letter of the law.
