I also think that if I mind-controlled Valerian after he already used his ability, I wouldn't be able to use it because it's already spent.

I would have picked who the Amnesiac becomes, obviously. Of course, to keep consistency, the Amnesiac would then also have his own "Claim Role" remain untouched, so he could switch afterward?
That's why I was asking. Based on Dem0n's opinion of letting a player keep their 1 time use ability after being mind controlled, that would suggest that the Amnesiac would still be able to switch after taking a role. Interesting stuff.

Echo was escorted into a dark room by a few Dominion marines. His arms and legs were chained together. He was thrown into a chair and proceeded to sit in it. Echo looked up at the marines.
"What do you pigs want?" he asked.
One of the marines landed a hard punch in Echo's stomach. Echo tried to scream, but he was out of breath.
"We know you've been killin' innocents out here. We're endin' your worthless life." the marine said.
"You've got the wrong guy," replied Echo, "Maybe if you weren't so busy kissin' up to Mengsk, you could see that."
The marine swung his arm to punch Echo again, but another marine stopped him.
"Let's just end this," said the second marine.
The first marine nodded. They both pulled out their guns and fired. The chair flew back, and the body of Echo fell onto the ground.

The confused man continued to walk around the city. He approached a spot that seemed familiar, but he could not remember if he had been there before.
"Hmm... Have I been here before? God, I wish I could remember..." said the man.
As he kept walking, he noticed a body on the ground. It was severely mutilated, almost unable to recognize. Near the body, there was an identification card. The man picked up the card and examined it.
"Well," he said, "since I can't remember who the hell I am, I guess I'll just take this guy's identity."
The man walked away with a new identity and a new life.
