What a gut-wrenching story. I could say a million things about it, write entire essays, but, I'm going to try to be simple for once and simply say it was an incredible VN. Philosophical, romantic, psychological, I don't even.

I really need to finish the other endings. Maybe I'll expand on this later, but, really: Saya no Uta is an incredible VN. It has some flaws, namely a few instances of repetition, but it's definitely a visual novel worth reading/playing (lulwut).

Japan has a ban on certain items. When translation groups purchase items from Japan, we usually get them censored. Think of the micro censor bars on Nounai Kanojo, for example: That is one of the methods they use to avoid the regulations.

...I think that is the way it works. For all I know, when eroges get to America, the censor is removed because we do not have bans.
