Some topics up for discussion:
-controls
-multiplayer compatibility (I prefer SP, personally)
-math and physics (I would definitely like some fleshing out for this; by far, this would be my greatest obstacle, perhaps)
-general implementation of all normal flight simulator aspects and systems
Control Schemes
1) Mouse for steering, left/right clicking for guns and missiles. To be frank, I'm not sure how I would go about with the mouse-steering parts. I haven't investigated much, but I know there are two functions for manipulating the camera to so that it can be used like a shooter camera; something similar to that would be useful.
Auxiliary controls for acceleration and strafing could be fit into WASDRF, etc.
That is, if we want strafing at all.

2) Keys for movement and keys for guns and missiles. Something like arrow keys and ZXC and such, or WASD and so on. Movement keys in this case would control the pointing direction of the plane.
I think I would prefer 1. Might also be easier for triggering, too.
MP vs. SP
I'd prefer SP to avoid all that crap about lag and whatever that has to do with MP. Besides, I wouldn't have to worry about multi-instancability in SP.
If I went through with this idea, I'd stick with SP first.
I don't really have much else besides that. Normal enemies and stuff.
My background that I recall vividly is pretty much just Descent: Freespace.
Anyway, yay or nay? I'm not sure if I want to go through with this, since it does appear to be a fairly hefty project.
But it's still an interesting topic that I want to discuss.
