What has lain itself before me, this vision that I've been shown, is the vision of an RPG. Yet, not quite a normal RPG! Sure, it's story-based and it might have a main linear quest branch, but more importantly, it will have the player focus on cooperating with a computer AI to fight another AI, all the while going on side quests and main quests for bling and background, and story and foreground; er respectively.

((FUCKING STUPID SHIT APPLE AUTOCOMPLEYE ASSLICKER BURNING ERASE BUTTON))

_Map Layout_

Baddies top left, fools in the bottom right. In between them are a shitton of minor villages and shit. The baddies and goodies play killer army dolls with each other while the RP fags run around completing quests, violating munstars, and defiling damsels in distress. However, the RPers can help the goodies by "reclaiming" the shacks in the middle, expanding the territory of the Light and making home-free closer to cave exploration places.

_Quests_

Side quests provide BG info and hot bling, while the main quest provides RP fags with story and shit. Me included, though I'll be jerking off to how awesome MY map is. /jk

In one of my previous posts, I described to you some aspects of the vision that had been bestowed unto me. Previously, I was laying down the ground concepts of RPG aspects, preliminary map layout, and quest thematic concepts.
I continue the expansion of Reclamation.

_Quests Pt.2_

I think that there will be one main quest line. The RPG will be semi-open, in that the player can choose to delay the main quest line in lieu of participating in other activities, such as learning more about the universe within which exists the Reclamation scenario. Side quests will be either for acquiring loot or to flesh out the world for the player.

I will expand later, after I give a skeleton to this universe.

_Reclamation Story_

The story behind Reclamation is still in being brainstormed. Presently, I cannot think of anything particularly unique or noteworthy. My only idea is a generic evil emperor trying to conquer a kingdom surrounded by innocent villagers. This is really just a shortcoming considering that Reclamation is really just an idea centered around players fighting with a computer ally against a computer opponent.

Let's see what I can conjure, here and now. (I'll try to port it into a sci-fi setting, lul.)

In a tiny starspace within the Koprulu sector, lies a tiny planet, tucked away in a tiny little corner away from all of the conflict of the larger star systems. Serene, innocent, peaceful; or so it appears.
Upon this planet, Aimulate, the cults of the dark Develnisk, Develnisk's Company, and the Church of the divine Christaofir engage each other in an eternal conflict, neither deity relenting, neither deity surrendering, both deities caught in a willing, perpetual cycle of destruction and creation, and back again. Sending forth their followers, gathering faith, destroying each others armies; these are the only things that these two entities know.
The Terran residents of Aimulate willingly follow and become apart of two communities: Develnisk's Company, or the Church of Christaofir. Those that join neither group are dragged into a tug-of-war, in which the two mortal enemies contend with each other for faith and fodder.

This conflict, which started ages long past and yet so distant that they can be seen in ages to come, approaches a strange turn of events in its cycle, a cycle that may soon be broken, and an imbalance be formed.
The cults of Develnisk's Company, though small and underground, have always been numerous, and their dark practices of necromancy and soul manipulation have approached a degree comparable to that of a science, a science that is a forefront of the times.

Meanwhile, the Church of Christaofir, which has ever been a beacon of righteousness, has been degenerating, falling into a state of corruption and disrepair. It's touted Order, Justice, and Law have been decayed by the bureaucracy, itself corrupt and bloated.
The order of mechanized knight warriors, the Wulfgardes, is at the point of collapsing; few now know the fine art of controlling and maintaining the impervious armoured suits of the Wulfgarde, and those that do do not recognize anyone as worthy of donning the armour. Not only that, but the last few veterans have taken upon themselves the task of going forth and guarding faithful villages from the cults of Develnisk, or finding and training a new generation of Wulfgarde knights. As such, the order of Wulfgardes are now down to a mere handful of old war dogs and a single pup, all considering what to do next.

Outside of the Church of Christaofir, are the main city of Desunite (I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER ON THE SPOT, DESU~) and the scattered villages of the people. In the main city, much has deteriorated into slums, with a few pockets of beautiful but aristocratic neighbourhoods. The nobles living in the few rich pockets now either follow their ideals to safeguard and serve their unfortunate fellows, secret agendas, or greed for power and wealth.
In the villages, the peasants themselves have been forced to organize militia groups, desperately praying and hoping, seeking help, trying valiantly to defend themselves from the violation of the territory of their souls on behalf of Develnisk's Company.

Most mysterious, however, are the conjurations of spirits, ghosts, phantoms, and wraiths; whispers upon the wind and lights in the forests, rumours tell of deities defending ambushed villagers, patron spirits creating havens out of destitute towns struck with poverty.

All these factions now come together, preparing for the coming conflict...

_Characters, Classes; Player Units_

Quick table I have follows.

Classes (Trait) | Preliminary Characters:
-Spirit (DPS) | Patron Spirit, Vengeful Wraith, Ghost Hero
-Wulfgarde (Tank) | War Dog, The Cynic, The Pup
-Noble (Indirect Support) | The Idealist, Hoarder, The Xanatos
-Peasant (Direct Support) | Local Priest, SCOUT, Builder

I don't really have anything specific, just a few archetypes and rough notes.

I think that what will actually happen is that the player is playing just as themselves, in a manner of speaking.
They would pick their class, and the "Preliminary Characters" I have outlined might actually be job-skill trees that they choose to follow as they level up.

/end

That's all I have to share, ATM.

The main idea of "Reclamation" is AIs fighting each other, and the player is basically fighting as one unit alongside the armies. The battlefield will be a bit AoS-ish. A shitton of villages are spread out, and what will happen is that the enemies go out to try to destroy (re: take over) villages. Of course, the good AI then fights back. Both factions will "claim" (take over) villages to increase territory and power.
Since the story is based from the perspective of the good guys, the idea is called "Reclamation" because of the feeling of having to reclaim villages from the enemy in an on-going fight, all the while doing quests and stuff.

I'd probably implement difficulty choosing for AIs, e.g. go for either "Active" or "Passive" AI style, to either allow an AoS-ish game or a questing RPG game.

Discuss.

:massimo:

The AIs would have to be advanced custom AIs to work with custom races and shit.
And there would be a bucket-load of miscellaneous side quests about helping villages, helping peasants, upgrading slums, fighting corruption in the bureaucracy (probably an example of a class-specific quest), assassinating key targets, infiltrating the enemy AI's bases, etc.
That's to go along with the main quest of pulling through with getting the city of Desunite and the random villages (which will all have to be named) and shattering the throne of the dark god, Develnisk (it has nothing to do with devilesk, I fucking swear upon the bloody stakes of Hell).

Wow, actually, that sounds like a shitton of work. I think I'll finish conceptualizing this and then never touch it again. (Maybe I'll make my flight simulator shooting game after I'm finished with my current system.)
