I'm very new to the editor in general, as I didn't really mess with it during the beta, so I'm more than a little confused. Basic things I have semi down, but I'm working on something that I can't seem to get to work.

For RotD4, I want, if possible, to have capital ships that can perform multiple actions at once. The hope is to have a primary attack (for example the bc ATA), a small number of interceptors, and a point defense weapon that only targets said small units.

Now, I've gotten the point defense working, but I'm having issues elsewhere. First, I can't seem to figure out how to make the unit aim itself at its target when it has multiple weapons, meaning that unless you manually face it directly at the enemy it will not fire. This can be fixed by giving the weapon a 360 degree firing radius, but I'm wondering if there's an easy fix anyone knows.

On the interceptors, I can't figure out how to make the maximum anything but 8. It's probably just a simple box I've missed, but I can't seem to find the thing.

Here's the big problem. With some jury rigging, I got most of it semi functional. My (8) interceptors attack the enemy, my point defense (set on 360 firing radius) targets enemy interceptors, but my main weapon will only fire under one circumstance. If I give a move order on an "allowed movement: none", then follow that with another attack, I am rewarded with one volley followed by silent guns, and I can only coax more fire out by repeating the orders. If the weapon is given "allowed movement: moving" it will only fire while moving and stop when stationary.

Anyway, don't anyone trouble yourself too much on these, I'm just hoping there are some dumb mistakes I'm overlooking that will fix these up.

Thanks for the help,

Spectre[YP]

The only thing I could suggest, because I have no idea about the editor, and only know this ingame, is for you to use the Goliath's upgrade to attack two targets at once. (Like how it can attack ground, and air, at the same time.) If theres a way for you to implement this, I'm sure it could work. You should be able to access the liberty campaign stuff by going to File -> Dependencies -> Add Standard and then checking the liberty one. Move it to the top of the list, save, and re-open your map. That's all I can think of.

I believe the interceptor limit is under the Requirement (Data->Requirements) "Arm Interceptor". In the requirement field there's a constant that = 8, changing that should do the trick. If you need to use two different requirements (8 for carrier, more for your ship) you'll have to copy that requirement and link each one separately to each respective unit.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
