After nearly six and a half years of map making, Clan (U) has finally reached its end. This is hardly news for some people, as (U) has been slowing fading away for some time, but this gives us a sort of closure. We couldn't just go on forever pretending the clan was alive and well.

The map making community isn't what it used to be. The structure of our clan is no longer required or welcome.
Hopefully, though, our members won't be going anywhere. I for one plan on sticking around for a whole longer, making maps and helping out when I can.

To the innumerable members we've had over the years: Good game.

- Kenoli, former leader of Clan Unknown

Clan (U) has finally died out. Clan (U) had a great run and was one of the greatest map making Clans Starcraft has ever seen. The SC Clan (U) we all once knew and loved is now gone. But with SC II just over the horizon, we could expect a return of Clan (U) at some point.

To all the member over the years, Thank you for making Clan (U) one of the greatest.

R.I.P.

Relatively ancient and inactive

R.I.P. Clan Unknown - they've had a good run. SC Mapmaking isn't really active, and I expected most guilds to drop sooner. I'm sure some'll be back for SCII, though. Don't get your hopes down.

Good Game. The fall of (U) means the end of map making for starcraft. All there is left in battle.net is stupid narutard clans hosting a crappy ass battle hokage game.

Goodbye to perhaps the only mapping clan I ever had any respect for :(

But yes, it was sort of inevitable by now.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

Symmetry -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
