To explain my gravity joke, the amount of potential energy is always negative, but a smaller negative number when you go higher.

As day ended once more, the town again was riled up into an angry mob. They chased l)ark_ssj9kevin out of the door. Wielding their fists or whatever makeshift weapons they could could find, they chased him into an alleyway, and beat him to death. Appeased with today's bloodshed, the town again settled down to sleep it off once more.
