What would having tooltips for GE in a third party editor do...?

Keyword here: effective. Effective tooltips. 'This is what an actor is.' 'This is what a trigger does.' For newbs mostly. Removeable so they don't become an annoyance to experienced mappers.
Sounds like something that would be more useful for a Wiki. If you plan on recreating everything GE can do, what would the reason be for not using GE? :P.

No, the idea is to make a better GE.

Do any of the SEN coders want to get together, maybe with Suicidal_Insanity, and code a better SC2 editor, in the same way that there is SCMDraft for BW? The current editor is pretty messy, and there's a good chance Blizzard won't fix it up much/at all when they release the full game.

None.

I honestly think the problem with this editor is that there is just TO MUCH DAMN THINGS TO JUGGLE. This editor needs have tabs or another program or something to switch between things like terrain, modeling, animations, and big things like that. Granted, i understand the point is to have it all to all in you're face, under one program. But holy hell this is ridiculous, i am completely jealous of people who have already gotten the hang of it.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

To be honest I find the data editor fairly easy to use, but a lot of people find it hard to use, as well as triggering. Those are the biggest things that need redo-ing.

Red classic.

Yeah... Good luck with that one. Competing with Blizzard's tool that literally does everything (minus the two things I talked about, which they can add at any time) will be a tough one, especially since they are actively updating it. It was nice and simple to make a better StarEdit because SE was only updated a couple of times within it's entire history, if at all. With that in mind, users like us were able to unlock things that SE limited us to. GE is all knowing and all seeing. I highly doubt you'll be able to make a better one.

That's why each one has separate windows. ;) You can, say, close the Terrain window and only have the Trigger window open.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
