I'm really looking forward to making some kick-ass stuff in Galaxy, and I figured making custom units would be a big + in any map.

First, as a person with no modeling experience whatsoever, what would be the best/easiest program for me to make simple models/animations for my own custom units? I'm assuming Anim8or, but I wanna be sure before I go downloading some programs that I'll have no idea how to use.

Also, any suggestions with beginning how to learn modeling? I normally just mess around with the editor or program of whatever sort and figure out the most on my own.

Anim8or is a good choice. You might try milkshape 3D, and if you like it you can buy it for 25 dollars.

As to how to get started. Start with reading tutorials and playing around with the program till you can use it fairly easily. Then start modeling simple objects such as cups, swords, basic pistols, etc.

NimoStar -- the thing with the "*12" thing is completely misleading. The AI isn't using two control groups, it can use each of those actions to command a single unit individually and issue different commands to each single unit.

And for some reason didn't even think to go back and look at the battle.
