I don't get why I can't be splashed!!! I must've stumbled onto somethin' every sc map maker wants cept me, cuz this stupid no splash damage sucks! Okay I created a spell that's suppose to attack with splash damage but when I use the spell, everything works just as I wrote it out to be yet when the Scarab's explode they don't deal damage. Not to the caster nor to the enemy. The first time I triggered it the splash damage was so bad it killed the caster. I was happy, singin' an everything. But then I... :ermm: ... Changed some stuff... And now it wont kill the caster nor any enemy anymore. Even though I changed things back (simplifyin' it though) it still wont work, and I've forgotten how the first triggers were written to begin with! So gay!!! So annoyin'!!! If I knew what I was doin' wrong I could write out a tut on how to get around splash damage. But since I don't understand what's causin' the triggers not to work... I need help... Please someone smart answer to this!

The easiest way to do DDS is to move the scarab to the location you want it to do dmg, then move it to an unwalkable location. It should then explode and cause dmg.

What do you mean by "unwalkable"? Right now I have it set to where the scarabs explode as soon as the spell is cast. So they explode instantly.

Move it to where you want the dmg, then move it to an area where units cannot walk (i.e. walk, space, null terrain, etc.)

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
